What economic impact will the expiration of payroll tax cuts have on the hobby?
Just curious how the 2% increase in social security tax withholding will impact the hobby. The fiscal cliff was averted for other tax cuts though the deal allowed the payroll tax cuts to expire. The additional 2% payroll deduction must be in effect no later than February 15, 2013. How will this tax increase affect the average hobbyist? Say the average hobbyist salary is $60,000 per annum. That is an additional $23 deduction the hobbyist will not take home per week. Now I know $23 may not seem like a lot, but if you sum that for the year that is $1,200. That can translate into 1 amazing overnight session with one of SA’s premiere providers, 2 three hour sessions, 3 two hour sessions (or 3 double 1 hr sessions), 6 one hour sessions, or 12 BNG sessions. Give or take that I’m rounding hourly rates to $200 & BNG sessions to $100. So my question is will hobbyists partake less or will they budget accordingly and continue their normal volume of hobby ventures?

Obviously we'll have to take cuts in other areas of our lives like gas, beer, clothes, lunches and dinners out, etc. The hobby budget isn't getting cut! Period!

I hadn't given a lot of thought to the payroll tax increase but then I read an online article that included a calculator that tells you how much more you're going to pay this year. So I plugged in my pre-tax income:
I was aghast to learn that I'll be paying an additional $2,274:
Now,you may be surprised to learn I have an annual pretax income of $1 million, but keep in mind the rest of my money goes directly to my shell corporation in the Cayman Islands (it's called Snapshot Joe's In-Your-Face-IRS, Inc.), and therefore it doesn't count.
Anyway, just to show you how unfair this is, consider some loser who makes ten times less money than me:
See that? I have to pay $274 more than them! That's just F-U-C-Ked up! Do you have any idea how much I could stimulate the economy with almost three hundred extra bucks? How many BnG's I could get for that? Why, that would get me 1hr with a lot of providers or even 45min with the White Queen.
Unfair I say, Un-effing-fair!!!

Nena, that's because you're a provider and not making millions! (jk...lol) Well, guess some of you will just have to visit some of us who have lowered our donations to adjust for that!

I hate paying more taxes and feel EVERYONE pays too much in taxes. But, please remember that was a tax holiday. A holiday is like a vacation, it doesn't last forever. I look at a number of different ways, one being that I saved several thousands in taxes over the last few years.
How will it affect my hobbying? Not a damn bit, I'll get a paper route to fund it. Shit, who reads the paper these days? Ok, I'll pump gas, damn it, they don't do that anymore. Crap, I hope I don't have to become a provider to pay my providers, that would suck- literally.lol
I guess I'll have to make up for it somewhere else.
Eating pussy vs eating steak--- pussy is less filling and tastes GREAT.
Furthermore, it will help with the cost of Obamacare, I eat more pussy, less steak, lose a little weight, get healthier, see doc less, save on medical expenses.
Shoot, maybe Obama should subsidize our hobbying-- we could hobby more often- stimulating the economy and be healthier at the same time.
Speaking of pussies, I would of thought by now the pussies in Washington could of figured out how to spend 2% less by now. Damn how many $1,000 ashtrays do they need?
Wow, pussies could save the economy, but other pussies are killing it. Go figure. Pussies- why do they have to be so complicated?
If you made it this far reading my BS, have a great night!

Oh my God joesnapshot, that's awful. I had no idea till I saw it there in black and white. You could have stimulated the economy by buying about 110 jars of Gray Poupon mustard with that $274 Obama stole from you. Or 4 or 5 flinde type democratic (read cheap) sessions.
This could be the end of mongering as we know it. And its all Obama's fault.
I think I'll go shoot myself with my assault rifle.
I actually discussed this with Mrs flinde #4 over dinner @ P F Changs last night. Oh, we'll have to do this one less time per week. Problem solved.
