Greetings!

Curious who's a fan of rope bondage? There is going to be a big rope event in DFW next year that will be bringing people like Lew Rubens, Mailler Phong, Boss Bondage, Mark Yu Okienawa, Fairer than she,Tatu, Lady Gold and of course myself : )

Anyone a fan of rope bondage, or maybe a fan of rope bondage photography?

The event is a bit away but I'm wanting to get some insight about everyone's views. Are all those kinky pictures everyone is looking at online just kinky pictures you find hot or do you really enjoy the bondage aspect of it? I've seen some threads online with some self ties, ties that have been found online etc.

Thoughts?

We have several rope groups here in Austin. The Whatknot is my favorite. Octroperfest is always informative.

Rope enthusiasts usually come in two camps - those that are really into rope for the visual asethics, and those that like to tie someone up for the sexual/fun of it.

Rope purists can get their tits/balls in a bind if their perfect rope work gets messed up during play. It's rare that you'll see someone struggling and trying to get out of their rope work if the top spent an hour tying them up. In my mind really pretty rope work is done for the camera, not for the playing enthusiast. Not to mention it takes a lot of time to make some of those gorgeous rope scenes.

I personally subscribe to the group that likes rope to be safe, but quick and easy. Once you are safely tied, then the fun begins!

But everybody needs to figure out which camp they want to be in. There are a few that can and do cross between the groups, but most seem to be one or the other.

If you really like the rope bondage aspect, check out Midori's Rope Dojo she holds a few times a year. It's two full days of rope work learning from one of the best riggers in the business.

Rope bondage is okay, but, I prefer my leather padded cuffs and my bondage frame to play on.
Secure and easily removed for immediate "gratification" when the pleasure MOUNTS.

I love the look of black padded leather cuffs than rope.

my experience with rope bondage was fun. i loved it when paris love strapped me down onto the bed, tied rope around my neck and dick and gave me BBBJ. and the more she would blow me, the more rope she tied around my neck to make the squeeze tighter and tighter.

Rope is my favorite fetish. I own jute, hemp, bamboo, silk bondage rope. Each in several different colors & diameters. Shibari rope play, both floor work & suspensions, take a lot of time & are quite intricate & I normally want a photo afterward.

Rope for sex can all be done with what Midori simply calls "that knot." But if you have a bratty eel who gets off by getting out of your rope, it can become very frustrating to put that much effort in to simply have a messy pile of rope of the floor to clean up. In that case, lockable cuffs. Best bondage for sex is lockable cuffs.

I am looking forward to the event - there are some outstanding riggers attending and it should be very informative. I do a lot bondage and fetish photography and will probably be at the event in Dallas and I agree with SlapandTickle - there are some excellent suspension events in Dallas that you can take part of now - I wish we had some down this way...we have some great riggers but no one does any public suspensions like they do up there.
