Default Search related question

I just moved over to eccie - it has been barely a month. Used to be a regular (time permitting) on ASPD. Love what you guys have going here!!!

I am having some difficulty using the search function. How do I force a search for multiple words in a thread? I tried the AND option and using quotes and both don't work. I believe those used to work on ASPD - hence those attempts.

for example I am trying to look for threads that refer to michelle sandra bell. I end up with way too many hits. I tried "Michelle Sandra Bell" and Michelle + Sandra + Bell.

I apologize if this is answered elsewhere.

Thanks,

HHF

This has been an issue for me as well. I'm just a dumbass with the search here. I've never been able to master it. I hope to figure it out someday, as I like just about everything else about the site.

Try the ampersand for "and" and the "or" bar for "or."

One & two

Mokoa:

Tried the & and it does not sem to work.

Any other options/suggestions?

I would prefer not to go through 80+ pages for just a possible few relevant hits.

Thanks,

HHF

I can't recall seeing her post much but ads.
I entered michelle sandra bell for keywords
specify the forum by highlighting independent provider reviews austin

you can play around with what forum you want to search as well and it should pull up anything with her name...
I had success doing that.

Hope that helps some,

sixx

sixxbach:

That is what I tried earlier - except that I expanded the search to 4 forums - reviews and LR Austin and reviews and LR Houston.

I end up with 18 pages of hits a lot of which are for *either* Michelle or Sandra or bell.

I am trying to narrow it down to just those that have all 3 words.

Search has been screwy for every vBulletin board I've worked with. Even when I find something that works, I can't seem to explain it. Even when I find something that works for me, it may not work for someone else. It will miss something that it "should" show, then show a bunch of things it "shouldn't."

i.e. I don't think it's ECCIE's fault.

Sometimes, you can use Google with some of the advanced options to restrict it to just this site.
