Thumbs down Really?!?!!?!?!?!?

Seriously WTF???
http://www.news4sanantonio.com/news/...ubs-5029.shtml

People using food stamps cards at Strip Clubs??? And people wonder what is wrong with this country

And while I applaud them for going after the businesses accepting them but honestly they should be going after both the one accepting them and the one trying to use them. That is clearly not what they were intended for

I saw that news report too and couldn't believe it. Politicians have no balls, they should go after the people that are using the food stamps not just the strip clubs that are accepting them.

If the vendors can't accept them... then people can't use them there. The people are just doing what they are allowed to do.

Yep, just like back when some of the Katrina victims were put up here. I lived, worked and shopped near a place where they were put up and virtually all the merchants I talked to were beside themselves about how these people were using there FEMA cards to buy beer, cigarettes and other such nonessential items.

Yes you are completely right about that Tracy!
I just think its BS on both sides, just plain wrong.

And OMG yes I know Mokoa, Im from New Orleans! I forget who it was who said that over half the Katrina victims were better off after than they were to start, and people got mad. But its true! I know many people rich and poor who got screwed over so bad, but almost just as many who conned the hell out (it was common in total to get about $10,000 total in help) of FEMA when they were'nt even affected. Horrible!

They should go after both sides. The business accepting them knows that it is wrong and the guy using it is also in the wrong. Fine one and terminate benefits for the other.

I hear what you are saying Laz, but they can put on the cards what is acceptable. I've used food stamps at one time in my life and remember you couldn't even buy certain energy drinks and such. You would get your total and still have a balance. I remember distinctly searching my bags for that one possible item that wasn't food stampable. Don't blame the sheep, they are dumb. Nip it at the butt and then there won't be an issue. Why cause extra drama with fines, just do not allow it, period.

I agree. As much as possible put system controls in place to prevent anyone from using it incorrectly but people trying to game the system will find ways to do so. Those are not people like you that are trying hard and getting a helping hand, They are thieves and should be cut off. Another example of that is those people that bought cart loads of stuff when the system temporarily failed to put limits on their cards. They knew what they were doing and were not just taking enough to feed the kids.
