(That is if you mean no longer "so" dependent on oil outside of the Western Hemisphere.)

I'm not so sure that statement is precisely accurate. U.S. production has been on the rise, and so has Canadian. But I think the accumulated total of U.S. and foreign production still eclipses that from Canada as far as our imports are concerned.

I double checked some numbers and Canada was running about 22% to 25% of our imports last year with some increase this year, but our own production is taking the edge off of any Canadian increase.

Although I do agree that a good "fuck off" is due the Saudis.
