Default P411 problems - deleted my PMs?

So I have set up an appt a few weeks back to meet with a visiting provider. The communication is actually with a person who represents the provider and the customer service has been prompt and excellent. The last thing I heard was about 10 days ago confirming the appt, telling me I even got grandfathered in on the original price since I booked so long ago, and that the provider was "looking forward to meeting you".

Now that the actual appt date is next week I went to go re-read old PMs and just discovered that all of the conversation has been deleted. I try to send a new PM to the provider and P411 tells me that this provider has disabled PMs and that I should instead click "Request Appointment". So I did do that...

But I find it kind of annoying that my entire record of communication was just simply deleted by P411. Now I feel like I have to hop through a bunch of hurdles just to confirm I am in fact still scheduled, etc.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? If this is common I am going to start insisting communication through Email instead of PM.
