Default Skydiving?

Okay so for my 30th birthday in 14 days, I am going to go skydiving. Does anybody have any information that they would like to share. Like best place to go, cost, and if you have done it what was it like?

Try the company in Whitewright http://www.skydivedallas.com/
I'd jump with you but I outweigh the safety limits (guess they don"t have cargo chutes)

I have 142 jumps in the army, but that is a totally different experience. Their idea is to get you to the ground as fast as possible and still be able to perform once you land. 16 feet per second is the fall rate.

Civilian jumps are more fun because you get to enjoy the fall and you land pretty softly. I actually have a coupon for a jump at skidivedallas. I'll let you know how it goes. If you don't hear from me, you know I was a lawn dart.

It was so much fun that I laughed all the way down. The problem with that is you don't get alot of oxygen. Plus my stomach hurt so much from laughing that I didn't exactly land gracefully. Come to think of it, I never did land that gracefully. But I had the time of my life and I look forward to doing it again. And again, and again.... It's somewhat addictive so be ready. Have a blast!

I am actually going on the 17th of this month. Never done it before and put it on my bucket list this year. My sister and her husband set it up... so I am not sure of the location. If I can get some info for you, Tara, I will call you.

If you drop at 10k feet, the freefall part really doesn't have a sense of out-of-control falling (though the ground definitely is getting closer!), but feels like walking into a really big wind. After the chute (hopefully) opens, the glide down is very relaxing, though, if you go tandem, some buddies like to do a slow twist, and that can be a little hard on the stomach.

It likely will be very very hot in the jump plane. If you're prone to motion sickness, take some pills before the flight.

Oh, the liability waivers and pre-jump film are enlightening. They say, "You're going to die. You'll have a great time and a great adventure, but you're going to die."

What about rain, the occasional satellite parts, meteors, planes ( ), dust, whole flocks of birds (that one is pretty creepy), bugs, fish, frogs, snow, volcanic ash, sometimes people and one time, a cow. http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/ad7...-that-happened The point is, there are definitely more than two things that fall out of the sky.
Love ya, big boy!

62 jumps for me Tara..... one "malfunction" and I am here to tell about it! It is the only sport I know of that will make you forget how to count to 3!!!

I chose to go "solo" as tandem did not seem as if it would be as much fun, well maybe with a female instructor, but I was not about to hang between some GUYS legs. My first few jumps were on a static line, and after being "observed" by the jumpmaster a few times, they let me know when they felt I was ready. Three jumps later, I was on my own and it was great....

Everytime I would jump I would say "if I make it to the ground safely I will NEVER do this again", and then as soon as my feet hit terra firma, I would tell myself "gotta do it again, gotta do it again". It is truly that exhilarating, you go from hot to cold so fast it is unbelievable.

The ride "under canopy" is indescribable, and with the modern square chutes' navigation and landing is a breeze..... FREEFALL on the other hand is for the true adrenaline junkies, I never stopped worrying until I felt the "whomp" of my chute opening. The true test of courage comes when you pack your own chute, lol, fortunately, your reserve has to be packed by a certified "rigger"..... I learned at a sky-dive center in the south, and being the only person of color in the group, I had a lot of fun with that whole "I need a rigger" thing!, LOL
All kidding aside, it is exciting!!!

REESE, I will bring YOU a piece of coal to place between those lovely butt cheeks of yours, but you MUST give me my "diamond" as soon as you hit the ground! LOL....

Both of you ladies please keep us advised as to how it goes.... Reese you can call or PM me if you want to talk more about what you are in for. I live not far from Skydive Dallas and have been by a couple of times, it looks like a pretty well run facility, and the two planes I saw flying were a LOT better than the ones I jumped out of....

Favorite line at our center was when peole would ask "why would anyone jump out of a perfectly good airplane?" ... the answer was always... "you haven't seen our plane"....

Have fun ladies!!!

Has ECCIE really gotten this bad????? A person makes a wise ass remark, as a joke and all that shit falling out of the sky lands on me.

The fools and bird shit as I said above is from the US Army. Thats right the same US Army that has brought you Viet Nam, the war in Irag and about 60 other countires.

I was called a "leg" in the army, meaning I had to walk everywhere as I was not airborne qualified.

The members of the airborne used to give "legs" a hard time about things because they were considered the elete members of the army because they would jump out of airplanes. So members of the airborne would always say "the two things that fall out of the sky are men and their equipment. The "legs" of the army like myself would tell the airborne that the only two things that fall out of the sky are "fools and Birdshit"

And now back to our regular programing.
