That fucking "Pedal Party"

Anyone seen this thing? It's on Washington Avenue a lot. I just passed it heading home at Elgin and Brazos intersection. I've already told my friends that if any of them gets the dumb idea to invite me to something involving that instrument of torture, I will go Liam Neeson on them.

If you're not familiar with the concept, you basically pay for a group of 15 of your alleged friends to pedal around (a 16th person acts as a bartender). The idea is you can drink while you pedal. You can travel from pub to pub, or just drink while you ride your Pedal Party Bus.

The thing travels about 5 miles per hour. If traffic is bad on Washington (and let's face it, it is a lot of times) it can bring things to an even worse snail's pace.

I hate that thing. I hate the stupid morons who rent the thing. I hate the people who came up with the concept. If you ever see on the news someone poured gasoline on it and set it on fire, feel free to submit this post as evidence.

I'm not really ever going to do it. But I'm going to do it in my fervent imagination. Over and over again.

If you ride do you have to pedal? If o get drunk I'm not trying to pedal shit. I've seen it but it was no bother to me, but I don't go to that area much. I thought that thing had a bar on it, guess not.

They always yell at bystanders to try and draw more attention to themselves. I used to work in the area and see them as they'd roll by yelling and cheering like idiots.

Worse still, when they dismount and enter into bars they smell of sweat, making it disgusting to be anywhere near them.

I wish you would burn that thing.

I did it in Germany last Summer and it was a pretty good time. Most of our time was spent riding in a park, so not much traffice issues

How does the open container law not apply here? I don't drink, but I am pretty sure you can't take a evening bike ride with your beer in hand, nor stroll the streets drinking away, so how is it legal in this case?

its a weird thing.. it is not a "Motorized" vehicle. Which is odd because by all engineering definitions which define what a MOTOR is as opposed to an ENGINE,
a Motor produces power/torque from some energy source (like electricity, or hydraulic) and a by product is HEAT

an ENGINE produces power /torque via an energy source igniting to produce heat (aka fuel sources) That is why its Turbine ENGINE, or DIESEL ENGINE etc... it ignites a combustible fuel source to produce energy.

Therefore people peddling means they are both.. they burn off calories (a form of combustion) and yet they get hotter (heat as a by product) so the law should see this as for what it is. Operating a pedestrian vehicle (fancy name for bicycle) while under influence or Public intox.
