My ECCIE Reviews
Default I need a mechanic to fix/repair an oil leak...

Okay Guys,

I have a 2000 Cadillac and this road hog needs to be fixed. I need to have the oil pan replaced, its been leaking oil and I have to put in a quart every month! I might even need the head gasket looked at too. I prefer someone ASE certified with an expertise in older Caddys. I am in the North Dallas area, so someone close would be ideal! I really don't want to risk driving my car out too far...

PM me for more information! I will glady barter you my time if you can help me get my car fixed .

Thanks!

If you need a head gasket plus an oil leak from the pan of a northstar motor you need to get out of that ride now it will cost you big bucks

They're both easy fixes no need for an ase certification but what caused it is the issue sounds like harsh driving or stop and go, in any case is it worth it if it's going to happen often?

they both are an easy fix but it will cost big money to do the oil pan gst the motor has to be droped and head gaskets on the 4.6 northstar motor you might as well throw it away. and yes i am a GM tech

Yes, you are very correct. Not to mention, that the fact that the dam thing usually leaks at the lower crankcase as well. This is usually the actual leak. Not just the oil pan.

The head bolts break all the time on removal. Block boltholes get strpped. Crank bolt holes get stripped. Cheaper in the long run to just get a replacemt engine through GM. And that is not cheap eaither.

And yes, there is a need for ASE certification. Im Gm certified, 100 percent trained in almost every area and am ASE Master certified. And have spent more than 25 years in GM Dealerships.

Don't let anyone talk you into the old "I can fixthat" deal. It never ends cheaply. And you usualy get screwed in more than one way.

Been there and seen that to many times.

And as to what caused it.

They all do it. It is a normal inherited flaw of that engine. When they are right they are great. When they are not. They are a money pit. Same for the 4T80E transmission that they have.

I am also an ASE certified tech and I have to agree with TheSearcher and Skirtchaser. The repairs will cost much more than the car is worth and there is no guarantee that it won't happen again.Anybody that tells you that there is a cheap fix for either problem is,at the very least, pulling your leg(and not in a good way)!!!!

The repair cost outweigh the value of the car, If you fix these issues today, You will have new issues tomorrow. Sell it and move on.
