Default If you're going to hobby, be rich!

http://www.chron.com/news/houston-te...ec-4024865.php

Rich fucker got off. Normally I would celebrate some guy getting off a prostitution bust (not getting off on a prostitute's bust ), however I'm really pissed this Halliburton VP gets off, while others don't. It's not personal against the guy, but fair is fair, whether one is rich or not. Either put 'em all in jail, or let 'em all walk.

Quote:
"Prosecutors on Friday ended a solicitation case against a Halliburton executive arrested last month in an undercover sting.
The Harris County District Attorney's Office threw out the prostitution charge against Joseph Andolino, 59, after they heard the evidence against him, his lawyer said.
Andolino, a Halliburton vice-president, and six other men were arrested Oct. 11 in an investigation of an online sex solicitation ring.
Harris County sheriff's deputies posed as escorts and arranged to meet men at spots near Interstate 45 and FM 1960, authorities said.
They were arrested after meeting and agreeing to pay for sex, officials said."

So you think that because he is a VP with Halliburton he is rich. You also choose to believe that he got off because he is rich rasher than that the evidence was insufficient to make a case.
That's fucked up.

That's fucked up.
So that's fucked up that I chose to think and make a post.

That's fucked up.

I'll guarn-fucken tee you he is richer than most of the other guys who were also busted.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it APPEARS that he got off because he has money and probably has better lawyers than the others have.

Since no others were mentioned as getting their case dropped I'd say his lawyer was the reason. Really good lawyers, corporate ones and top notch criminal ones, get paid very well. To afford them you probably make good money.

As Bush and Obama have made very clear for a long time, the law is for the little people.

Corzine walking around free still - try stealing over a billion dollars from a 7/11 and see where that gets you.

All you have to is look what Dick Deguerin is doing for the the hapless day day car worker that killed 4 kids with a fire, She has been offered a plea bargain.

Not necessarily money, but the right circumstance... to get someone too take the job.

Deguerin is a good defense attorney and has been around 30+ years.

So because he is or has more money than the other dupes I would also discern that he is apparently smarter and kept his mouth shut and did not further incriminate himself. But then again, Halliburton may have donated large sums of campaign cash t the DA and called in a favor.

So maybe we should start a thread that says it pays to have connections if you hobby.

or

It pays to be smarter than the next guy if you hobby.

So DJ do you have issues with people that have money and or are well connected and think that it is not fair to the average hobbyist?

That is really fucked up. I bet I know how you voted.

You ever think that the new reporting agencies don't give a shit about some lowly regular guy getting off but a high profile person like a 'VP at Halliburton is news worthy?

What a stupid post. If you think it's so horrible that he's not going to jail for soliciting a prostitute, go turn your ass in and serve you time because you're doing the same thing as him. If the others can't afford a good lawyer to get them off, I feel bad for them, but I'm glad this guy got off. It gives me hope if my ass gets caught.

But don't think for a second that this guy got off. I'm sure his life is pretty fucked up right now.

So how did he "get off" again. His name was plastered all over the 6 o'clock news and I'm guessing he lost his job. Me thincks he is still fucked.

So if you got caught and your livelihood was in the balance, would you still be all high and mighty and plead guilty or would you try to beat the rap if an attorney told you he could have the charges dropped pretty easily?

I don't know about the other guys in this thread, but I would do everything I could to beat the charge. And, I'm not rich.

It may be that there is a domino effect from the dropping of his charges, if the facts are similar (and the other folks haveni't confessed or pled guilty) and their charges will be dropped as well ... often the DA treats those busted "together" the same in order to avoid "discrimination" complaints ... also the Haliburton guy's attorney may have gotten some publicity in the media to take the edge off the early reports and the others did not.

It's not always about "money" or "politics."

Also, one might be surprised at the cases some of the high-profile attorneys will take (low fees or no fees) when asked. It's not always about money to them either. Many people don't ask because they already have a mind set that it will cost more than they can pay to have them represent them in a case. They can only say "no" and might handle the case or refer you to someone good who will for a lesser fee. Don't always look for "cheap" and don't always look for one who gets a lot of publicity.

It is the presumption that he is rich and the Op's opinion that he got preferential treatment because he thinks he is rich that is fucked up.
The problem is not the persons status in life but the simple fact that LE is trying to make cases without cause and creating the opportunity for criminal activity that is fucked up.

It is like we always say, you may beat the rap but you will not beat the ride.
In the end, even though he "got off", it will more than likely cost him way more than the ones that did not.

At least one of them got off. Who knows, maybe others will too. We don't know what evidence they had against this guy versus the rest. Even if DearJohn's take is right, so what if he got off because he could afford better lawyers. That's the American way. Work hard, be successful, and enjoy the fruits of your labors. That includes having better cars, houses and lawyers.

The cops need to leave everyone alone, they should be chasing bad guys instead of providers and hobbyists.
