Exclamation Places to eat

Where are some "Dallas only" resturants that are yummy? Would like to explore a little while I'm here!!

For lunch try the "Business Lunch" at The Palm. Relatively inexpensive, good food especially if you like steak. Yum.

If you feel like spending more and have 2 hours to completely waste at lunch try Charlie Palmers' at The Joule hotel downtown. Good food, cool atmosphere.... don't be too hungry and don't be in a hurry, be prepared to spend too much.

Try Stephen Pyles downtown for dinner. Expensive, very. Worth it.

One night go to Strokers and have a Blues Brothers Burger (if you like blue cheese) and beer.... if you like motorcycle people that is.

If you want to get a little out of mainstream, look up a place in South Dallas called "Bishop Arts District". Go to Bolsa for happy hour and dinner.

http://www.bolsadallas.com

Just depends on your price range really, Dallas has some damn spendy places and some bargains.

If someone were coming to Dallas and asked me for 2 places for dinner I'd send them to Bolsa one night and Strokers the other. 2 completely different worlds.

The others are good but sort of fru fru.

Dislclaimer: These are actual Dallas, meaning downtown and close to it. If by Dallas you really mean way the hell up north then it's your standard chain garbage and you're better off finding an In-N-Out.

Or, the best thing you could do is go to Ft. Worth

Good luck!

If you like BBQ, try Sonny Bryan's. Until recently, it was a DFW-area chain. The non-DFW locations are in Utah.

I would not go to Stephan Pyle's. I have been twice with out of town business clients. Very expensive, not even close to worth it. Service is spotty to poor. Bar is average or below in service and ability to make a decent drink. Interesting menu but nothing spectacular. I was unimpressed even if it had been half price.

A couple of my favorites to take out of towners. 560. That the the Wolfgang Puck place on top of Reunion Tower. It rotates. Decent Asian-Fusion menu. Overpriced but you are paying for the view/experience. (Still way less than Pyles.) If you order drinks, order doubles. They haven't figured out how to spill booze in a glass very well.
Hatties. Becoming one of my favorites. Excellent service.
Private Social. Good but not outstanding. Good bar service though.
Fearings. IMHO better dining experience than Pyles.
Si Tapas. If you like tapas and sangria. This is the best in Dallas.

Abacus Dallas.

Chef Kent Rathbun and his brother, beat Bobby Flay on the show "Iron Chef", if that gives any idea of the deliciousness they serve there. The bread basket alone, will make you want to slap your momma. Think Red Lobster cheddar biscuits, only in mini form, and about ten thousand times more flavorful.

It's also nice when celebrity chef Rathbun visits each table and chats with you.
Oh and the food is orgasmic. Leave room for dessert. They are just amazingly tasty little works of art.

Link!
Abacus Dallas....check the menus To.Die.For.

One of the hottest restaurant areas now is Bishop Arts District in Oak Cliff/South Dallas. Several great places, all close to each other, some already mentioned in this thread.
Hattie's
Bolsa
Tillman's
Lucia (although this place is super small, they have a long wait list)
Boulevardier (excellent new place)

Great recommendation for a place with some Dallas history.

Twisted Root as suggested by Shea is a great place, but I recommend the Deep Ellum location over SMU. Just more of an experience.

Kincaid's for a local burger joint, especially if you can make it to the Camp Bowie location in Fort Worth.

Hatties and Lucia

Lucia is usually booked solid for two plus months forward. Plan ahead.
