Default Y. Darvish - First Outing!!

So Im at work teaching tonight, when I check my cell to see how Darvish is doing. I saw that he threw 42 pitches in the 1st inning, WTF??? I was at work and missed the start of the game but it seemed like he got settled in and hust had a bad case of the YiPS early off. He was left in the game because he aparantly got some good run support from M. Moreland (HR), N. Cruz (3run HR), and J. Hamilton (HR). Not sure about this guy yet, he would have been yanked if it wasnt for the run support! Guess I'll have to wait for a few more starts before I can get a good read on him.

I was real impressed with how he held it together and had a couple of 1-2-3 innings.
Rough 1st inning to say the least, but a cool customer to hang in the way he did.

I thought he pitched good 4/6 innings. He kept cool the whole time...will have to see few more games to see if he is the real deal...

A WHIP of over 2 isn't going to cut it most nights.

he definately had his control issues, in post game he did admit he was pretty nervous. I was there for the game, and it really did kinda take the wind out of the crowd when he walked in a run in the first...but after a couple strike outs that crowd got behind him again.

he really did show some good things, i hope he has his head on straight for his next start. Im looking forward to seeing his next home start....which, unless something changes, should be on at the end of the month, on a Wednesday night against New York....thatll be his first real test of the year...so his got a couple starts to get his shit straight.

The back to back 1-2-3 innings after that 1st give me big hope. Not sure that Neftali has that in him

Heli, I'm with you there...real curious to see what Neftali brings tonight. Damn, what a bunch of bangers they have!

I thought he did pretty well battling his way back and settling down. He had to be pretty nervous with DFW and all of Japan watching.
He does have some good movement on the ball. I think he will be fine. I am more worried about Neftali. Once he gets a little tired and that fastball slows down a couple of MPH...watch out.

It's going to be hard for the fans (me) to be very paticent with Neftali with Ogando and Feldman in the BP. He needs to bring more than that fastball to be a SP. I would not be opposed to sending him down to develop if he isn't ready now

I also thought he did well. He looks like a guy who will consistently give you good innings. I was glad Ron left him in there in the first inning, I'm sure he was nervous as hell, but glad to see he made it through.

I take back what I said about Nefty. He made it look easy - 7 inning 4 hit shutout. Off-speed stuff, great change-up.
If he's on like that most nights....wow!
Going to Thursday's game, can't wait.
GO RANGERS !

Must say wow to Nefti's first start. I still need to see him facing adversity, but if he pitches like that there won't be much to worry about
