I do not think a client should mentor a provider an any way. I have no problem if another provider wants to mentor a newbie.
But a client never ever should get involved with a provider in a mentoring way.
Just my .02 cents

I just think a client would have a lot more to lose in this situation than a provider, I don't think many of you would think the risk is worth the reward.
I know people are going to do it, we're all adults capable of making our own decisions. But personally, I would advise against it.

I would be happy to show her the ropes, after a month she knows all the things clients like and she is on her own.

Mentoring can be defined in a million different ways. I am happy to give advice and information, but that's as far as I'm willing to take it.

Guess it depends how you define mentoring. Last summer a lady joined the Grain Belt News and we struck up an email conversation. She was new and had a lot of questions, which I answered for her. Questions pertaining to about every aspect of the hobby. I eventually became her first client and still see her when I'm in the area.
Now, if you are talking about guys that become more involved, like giving rides, helping screen and placing ads, then no I would never do that.

Not in this lifetime for me. I'm in the hobby for fun and variety. LE is a big enough concern as a hobbyist, but when you also throw in organized crime/pimps into the possibility, that's an avenue where I see the sign "Do Not Enter" or "Detour"....
To each their own though, just not something that interests me.

I agree. My dad told me a long time ago(and of course I never kistened) that if you are somewhere you shouldn't be nothing good can come of it. As has been said on several threads now the world on the other side of things is no place for someone that doesn't belong there.

The meaning of words.

Well Allie, this is a tough one; but then I am one to pick at the meaning of words.
I have many young ladies in my homes while my daughters were young. I have been asked for advice about many things. But for the most part what was most needed is for someone older to listen, truly listen, to what the younger person was saying. I have coached girls sports, and been a teacher to young women. I had to look it up to be sure my definition matched my thoughts: it did.
The synonyms of mentor are: advisor, coach, counsellor, guide, instructor, teacher, trainer, and tutor. I find nothing about intruding into someone's life.
Does this match your meaning of the word?
When I started in my own business I was advised by a couple of guys over 85 who were still active in my business. They taught me a lot.
I can tell you that I enjoy the time talking with friends, hopefully they enjoy time with me.

I've given a few ladies a screening sheet to go by and have given them advice on what to expect if that counts.

It's different if a provider asks for advice on certain aspects.
I know I've had some unwanted advice from past clients & it IS frustrating.
Or the, "I'll do this if you do that" sort of thing. Also, pushy clients wanting me to do things with them that I was uncomfortable with, which landed them on my dns list.
It's harder to sift through the bs advice and the heartfelt "free" advice when you're brand new to this lifestyle.

Newbie providers are a lot like newbie fucktards... stupid. If by mentoring you mean, giving advice and showing them where to post what and how to stay out of trouble... I don't think it is a bad idea on a LIMITED basis. But, most of those girls who NEED people to hold their hand and walk them through how to do this the right way are just looking to get paid. And chicks who are just looking to get paid don't give 2 shits about customer service or establishing a good reputation. Once they get enough money to get out of whatever hole they dug themselves in or a little honda civic to drive around with their friends, no one can reach them... then they need money again.
Why put yourself through the frustration of having to school someone who really isn't worth it? Better to hook up with someone who is a professional, knows the ropes already and has a background of good service and having a good time with her clients. Pay for her time and then leave.

Yes. Of course I want to help. I love to help. But, no, I am not going to expose myself to unneccessary risk by violating any of those stupid laws that are on the books. Change the laws and many guys would change their answers.

True mentoring? Hell, no! Some advice here and there, sure. Unless someone (male or female) has walked in these shoes, no one knows squat about the physical, mental, and emotional challenges of a provider.
I WAS mentored when I was a newbie~~but by an experienced provider, who took me under her wing. (RIP)
