Is there a way to make this site more secure?

I came across a blog earlier today with photos of several providers who advertise here. My photos were included. I came to the conclusion the photos where from this site specifically because the photos on the blog can only be found on various advertisements I placed.

Is there a way to make this site more secure to protect the identity of providers? Maybe disabling right click or requiring log in before the full site can be viewed? Maybe screen members before they can join? IDK if it's possible financially, but I know it would be a personal relief and could cut down on some of the bs.

You cannot protect pictures on a web site. All of the things that are supposed to make it impossible to copy your pictures are easily bypassed. Usually very easily bypassed.

You may keep the "honest" people out, but the people who are going to do something nasty with your pictures know how to bypass any of these picture protection schemes in a heartbeat.

There are plenty of applications that will 'download' all the surfable content of a site. Via parameters, you can specify additional info like logon data, so it can 'download' all content that is available to the premium account too.

ps. Right click, and such script will slow down the casual surfer only.

All the above information is right on the money.
Here are few pro-active tips that might help a provider-
- always Watermark your photos diagonally from top to bottom or the other way around;
- always blur your face in your "hobby" photos. You might have some full-face photos to provide a hobbiest after you screen them.
- if you use a phone or any pro-sumer camera, make sure the GPS/location function is disabled. If not, this can add GPS co-ordinates to the meta data of the photo. Not all sites are scripting out this meta data when photos are uploaded.
-if you find a site that has posted your photos without your permission, send them a Cease and Desist Letter by email. Most sites will take them down with just a letter. They are not in for the hassle about photos stolen by someone else.

Well this sucks. I don't think the photos were taken from this site to be harmful, more so to showcase the beauty found here. I'd just rather my beauty be confined to sites I personally submit to.

sanaa, as others said, even if this site did something to prevent downloading of photos posted here, any competent user can take screen snapshots of what displays on their computer and then use that image for whatever they want.

so, while there might be ways to make this site more secure, no one can prevent anyone from snagging images.

jframe2 has good suggestions.
and if you find that your images have been used somewhere w/out your permission, there are ways to legally request they quit using them.

An old trick.......






Slice the original image, then rejoin the parts with html code for websites.

If you right clicked on the above image, you would only be getting 1/9th of the picture.

SensualSanaa, disabling the right click means they have to go dig through their history / temp directory for the image file.

If it is displayed on their screen or played through their speakers, there will always be a way to save the content.

Been a fact of the net since the early 90's old timers know how to keep any content they view/listen to..

Food for thought...

Are smartphones pretty good on removing GPS and other meta data from pictures when the user 'sms texts' it to someone?

IF not, what are some phones that users need to be carefull about?

(my theory is that either the phones or the services remove that data but I never tested it)
