A Tale of Two Companies

American Airlines is undergoing bankruptcy. Many long-time employees will be laid off, and retirees will lose their benefits.

Facebook is going public. Many people connected with the company will become accidental millionaires.

This may be the ultimate manifestation of "life is not fair".

I looked into purchasing facebook stock, and not available to ipo yet. I would be a retired millionaire if I hadn't listened to my financial advisor who said no to google

American Airlines will be back...filing doesn't mean they are done for.

Jack I cashed out of American Airlines awhile back but that was because i needed to liquidate some of the portfolio YEAH I KNOW ... It was the Freaking TEXAS HOLDEM!!!!!!

But I agree with you "Life is not fair" but then anyone that told you it was ... was trying to sell you something!!!

American Airlines could not compete as structured. They were the General Motors of Airlines.

I was merely struck by the vastly different prospects awaiting the 70000+ employees of American Airlines and the 2000+ employees of Facebook. Some competent and hard-working worker at American Airlines will be fired, while another person doing a similar job at Facebook will get a huge windfall.

Il n'ya rien de nécessairement juste des choses en France. Comme une question de fait que beaucoup de gens que je connais viennent aux États-Unis sont exempts de ce qu'ils considèrent comme un système inéquitable et partiale!

Ils ont tendance à profiter de nombreux avantages d'un soin de santé type de gouvernement socialiste, une semaine de travail écourtée, vacances obligatoires, etc, mais ils viennent aux États-Unis pour l'occasion de profiter de nombreuses libertés qu'ils ne se sentent pas qu'ils jouissent!

They also visit because the cost of living is much lower
