I assume that MLB has umpires that live in various places and have no policy against them working games involving teams based in the town where they reside. That makes sense to me or otherwise you would always be breaking up four man crews for certain series. Plus, post season assignments are a highly sought after reward that are fpgiven to officials (at least in the NBA, NHL , and baseball) as a result of superior performance. Should umpires who live in New York be ineligible for that reward every other year because of the Yankees dominance?

Indeed, the umpire in question is also the ine who (correctly) called Kinsler safe on the very close steal of second that was critical to the Rangers win in game 2.

Reputation and integrity would be at stake for the rest of their career on questionable calls if it was consistent. not to mention legal problems if it came to that.

Joe Torre, VP Baseball Operations for MLB, said it best ... "They're human and mistakes will be made". Not much comfort for Ranger fans. Regardless, this is a great World Series.

That ump worked the dish last night...didn't notice a St. Looey bias then. I think he's a stand-up guy that just fucked the pooch on the play at first.

He damn sure got the call right on Kinslers steal in game two, and THAT was a very tough call.

They all miss stuff...it just sucks when your team takes it up the ass.

If that big inning had been the only one due to the blown call I would be much more upset but the Rangers were throwing batting practice in game 3. In the end the call didnt matter at all.

buck got it right, he was the home plate umpire and him allowing inside strikes allowed Holland to dominate.
