Funny, I've always thought the same thing. My corporate office was in Houston and I often had to stay in Houston for days at a time. Always wondered how much smaller my 401K would be if I lived there. The only downside to hobbying in Houston is when you do have a shitty encounter you have that long drive back to the Golden Triangle to reflect on the money you blew.
