Isn't there some Israeli firm that claims their software can crack the encryption of WhatsApp and for that matter any encryption? It was mentioned on Frontline the other night. Of course the Jews are selling it to the Saudis, that's true prostitution.

There have been some vulnerabilities patched every so often. Anyone attempting to break the encryption needs physical access to your phone.

Telegram is the safest of the two..... But both are considerably safer than SMS or email.

Doesn't using a VPN like Nord provide the same encryption? Is this just one more layer of protection?

If you VPN, you encrypt your traffic but when you turn that VPN off you are no longer protected. With these two applications it is end-to-end encryption and the messages are encrypted en route and on each end always, there are no back doors for law enforcement access and it really pisses them off.

You have to remember that no matter the type of phone you are using whether it's a prepaid or a contract phone, if you are using SMS or imessage or Android's version etc those are all available to be read by law enforcement at any time and they never need access to your device.

With WhatsApp or Telegram your messages can never be read by anybody no matter who it is unless they have physical access to your phone and it's unlocked otherwise no entity can read your messages ever.

Not that I am advocating texting while driving but if you were driving your vehicle and texting via WhatsApp or Telegram and had a crash there is no way that any law enforcement agency or anybody else could ever find out that you were actually texting and driving at the same time unless they had your unlocked phone.
