Default "So, what kind of music do you like."

I've been asked that by almost every provider and never really gave it a thought until I was looking at reviews for the newest, hottest, barely legal dime piece on the local block, and there it was in picture 6 of her WW post, plugged into the bathroom outlet...

An Amazon Alexa!

Both Amazon and Apple (Siri) have admitted that they record your conversations for "product enhancement" and have live people listening in for the same "purpose".

I assume Android phones have a similar function, not really familiar with them.

Do you really trust someone you met 30 minutes ago to say "Alexa, delete everything from the past 24 hours" after your introductory BnG? And how do you know it's REALLY deleted?

My polite response from here on out is, "Oh which streaming service do you use? Pandora or Spotify?"

If the say "Alexa or Siri" my response will be, "Can you turn them both off please?"

More mature providers "get" it. It's the "I can't put down my phone - it's glued to my hand generation" that don't get it. Amazon Alexa data has already been used as evidence in murder investigations. It would be easy for a Federal DA to write up a request to Amazon under FOSTA/SESTA requesting all Alexa recordings for certain cell numbers....

I only use Pandora on my lap top and do age of the gent visiting at the time or i'll ask him what he likes ..

No need for laziness and ask something to turn something on or off ..lol

I am really enjoying the cross over music like LiL Nas X "Old Town Road."

Typically, I gravitate towards classic rock and country.

Good points A1. I don't have any of those Amazon, Apple, or Google wiretap devices in my homes.

Keep in mind also that if you have a modern cell phone, and it is turned on, you're basically already wiretapped and tracked 24/7. Check your browser (especially Chrome), cloud, accounts (especially google/gmail), social media, and navigation settings and logs, and you may be shocked to find how much personal info is permanently stored. The info gets shared with their partners, advertisers, LE, and sold to insurance companies, data brokers, bail bondsmen, credit agencies, etc. This data includes all of you FB Messenger private messages, Instagram messages, and Twitter messages.

Did you know that if you link your cell phone to any car stereo/infotainment system, that your contacts, messages, call logs, and tons of other info is often saved to the car and cannot easily be deleted? The data can though easily be accessed by LE or a novice hacker.

Based on your previous posts here and username, A1, I doubt anything I said is news to you.

I travel with an Alexa, I went back the next morning after seeing a provider. I had to delete several recordings. Some were downright hilarious. We were laughing and cutting up changing the channel and volume.
I am glad I thought about doing so because clearly a female voice and at 2am would have been awfully suspicious in the real world household.

Yes, they do. "Hey Google..."

Also, if you have any of the Amazon apps on your android device, pretty sure Alexa will be there.

For a 3 way smackdown between Siri, Alexa, and Google!

LOL!

Why do you think a local, state, or federal attorney has nothing better to do than write requests to Apple, Google, and Amazon to pop random johns?

If you want to turn off the recordings altogether on Alexa, do this:

  • Open the Alexa app on your phone.
  • Tap the menu button on the top left of the screen.
  • Select "Settings" at the bottom
  • Select “Alexa Account.”
  • Choose “Alexa Privacy.”
  • Select “Manage how your data improves Alexa.”
  • Turn off the button next to “Help Develop New Features.”
  • Turn off the button next to your name under “Use Messages to Improve Transcriptions.”

Hope this helps!

Several years ago I ripped all my music CD's to highest quality mp3 files. I subscribe to Sirius/XM, have the Onyx receiver in my home and if i hear a song I like, I download the mp3 from Amazon and add it my music files. I don't do social media at all since myspace went dark, don't trust i-tunes let alone spy speakers but do watch music videos on youtube when an mp3 download is unavailable

For fans of Frank Herbert and Dune, it's time to launch the Butlerian Jihad and do away with devices that mimic "friends"

Who's with me?

Wow this is good information to know... I didn't realize all that comes with an Alexa...

I'm not Tech savvy so I only do certain things on my computer, And I don't have anything paired in my car. If I want to listen to YouTube while driving I just put in that little plug thing.

Your post is very interesting, And I will have to check it out....
Thanks for sharing.
