So their plan is to reduce debt accumulation by $4T over 10 years. That works out to cutting spending by $400B per year. On a budget that is $1.6 in deficit. In other words, their plan doesn't even approach cutting the deficit in half, doesn't even reduce the deficit to spending levels when Bush was in office, and they plan to use their precious trump card - raising taxes on the rich - to do it.

So in other words, with their plan, we would still be miles away from any budget that bears even a vague resemblance to a balanced budget - and at the same time, their fallback to raising taxes would be gone. Brilliant.

Wow. How under-fucking-whelming can they get?

I don't like all of this 10 year talk. This Congress can only speak for this Congress and not the next five Congresses. Ditto the White House and Senate. I want to see spending cuts now before any tax increases. The democrats have a very poor track recored of following through on promised spending cuts. In fact, they have never lived up to their promises. No, spending cuts first, real spending cuts and then they talk about any tax increases (hell, no!).

I didn't say it was a GOOD plan. LOL! I'm just glad they finally committed to something. Nobody has an effective plan. You may be right. I might have had another episode of premature jubilation.

The Republican's latest deal is only $2Trillion because they won't raise taxes on millionaires and billionaires. Obama has out-gamed the House Republicans like they were little kids. I look forward to watching the Republicans breaking their Grover Norquist pledges and being split down the middle.
