Amazon Says No to New York Headquarters.....
https://www.cnbc.com/2019/02/14/amaz...s-reports.html
I'm not sure who I see as the good guys or the bad guys in this senario.
Amazon would bring jobs, but wanted substantial tax breaks. New York wanted the jobs, but giving the biggest corporation in the world massive tax incentives does not play well with the Liberal Voting Block.
The imovable object meets the unstoppable force.

About Time someone stood up to Bezos and his massive Amazon handouts.
Unfortunately, there will be many other ill-advised cities vying for the "Prize".
Not worth the loss of reasonable taxation on the business.

NY and amazon
neither a wellspring of good seems to me
ny has its tax laws
id say stick with them or change them for everyone

Here's the thing. Amazon ultimately will need to setup shop somewhere. If no one caves to their demands, Amazon will have to pick some place.
Corporate wellfare is not capitalism.

And the Houston Oilers. We are still paying for crap that Bud Adams hoodwinked the County Commisioners into paying for, and he upped and moved to Tennessee anyway.
Then, after all of those renevations, the Astros moved to Minute Made Park, (then ENRON).
As much as I love the Astros, they are not "The Houston Astros". They are a professional baseball team that plays their home games in Minute Maid Park.
As for the Astrodome, I watched them build it, it served it's purpose, now I think they should implode the darn thing and use the space for parking. They could sell tickets for the event

The far left, and the far right both hate a successful corporation.
You guys are closer than you thought.

You are more than welcome to them in Austin!!
Jerry Jones is so proud of his stadium toy - it seats 20,000 less than Royal Memorial.
Which BTW - is smaller than Kyle Field.

You can’t be an Astro fan if you’d make that kind of statement.
Though I’m still pissed Bud Adams let them fuck up the Astrodome for baseball, which is what it was really for anyway.
National shrine. Hands fucking off.

First of all— keep the Cowboys out of AUSTIN
Second of all — Fuck the Cowboys
Third of all — Poor Aggies. They’ll always have Bevo envy.

I agree that Bezos doesn't deserve handouts and shouldn't ask for them.

You being a fellow Longhorn makes me wonder if I should have been an Aggie....needless to say, I've never felt that way even though that dickhead Democrat Paul Begala was the student association President after losing a write in campaign to Hank the Hallucination - an imaginary character from a fucking comic strip in The Daily Texan!
At least we still have Karl Rove and Farrah Fawcett and of course old Walter to salvage our school's reputation.
I've always thought Eli Wallach was a hell of an actor, too.
I would like to respectfully ask you to renounce your association with The University of Texas, please.
If you do that, I promise to never call you a gay person again.
Lovingly yours, Fred

Wow those are some incredible profit margins. Is that what you are talking about when you talk about the Plantation state? Not paying the people who are doing the actual work and the "owner" makes all the money? Oh that's right, they, ( the players) get a free education. Similar to the Plantations in the South. The owners provided free living quarters and meals
