Default Traveling habits?

I have learned a lot over the years I have hobbied, even more so now that I am part of ECCIE. I was wondering what is life like on the road? How is it similar, and different than life at home?
Do you take some 'me time' to just see the city and enjoy the sights, when and if business is slow?
I am sure that there is a difference between a little slow, and you are loosing money on this trip time to cut it short it is a business after all.

It wasn't until the last statement before I knew who the question was for. Be a little more specific next time.

If business is slow, I am not out seeing sights or visiting the city. What is usually happening with me is one or more of the following:
  • eating breakfast, lunch or dinner I may have missed
  • reading and/or answering emails in regard to appt requests/questions
  • working on reference checks
  • sleeping in or catching up on sleep
  • returning phone calls
  • paying bills or catching up on things from home I brought along the road with me (like mail that needs answering, problems that need to be addressed, etc.)
  • if family calls for any reason, I am returning those calls (sometimes being on the phone with them can take up an hour of my time)
  • vegging out in front of the boob tube or MAYBE going out to the movies
  • getting a pedicure or massage (if I'm achy enough from long hours of driving)
  • taking care of car maintenance (any problems that arise or just routine stuff like oil change, new tires or rotation)
  • reserving future hotels (this can be an all day event)
  • working on future schedule (this can be a 2 day event but thankfully I do this once every 2-3 months)
  • shopping for health and beauty aids or other things I need on the road, maybe out looking for new lingerie or clothes for future photo shoots
  • if i made the time--exercise would be on this list too
  • getting gas in the car and if I have time, getting a car wash (if needed)
  • getting a tan (maintaining those lines--I try to do this twice a week)
  • taking new photos, cropping, uploading and arranging online and posting to my site (takes normally 2 days)
  • reading the forums/boards throughout the day to see what news I missed (putting in my 2 cents like on this thread. )
  • maybe sitting in on chat on a couple boards now and then (but I'm usually doing that when I should be working on emails or the like)
  • placing ads (this is a half day event if I post everywhere I normally do) Creating a new ad usually takes close to an hour with uploading pics, making sure grammar, color, layout and html is correct.

and possibly more I cannot think of at this moment.

Since I sleep long hours, am on the road quite a bit, usually have a couple appts maybe when I first get into town (and I don't get in til mid to late afternoon), it really doesn't leave me much FREE time at all to get a lot of the things done above. Most times, I am unable to get breakfast or lunch in and by the time I get dinner, it's almost 9-10pm.

If you meant REAL spare time, then I'd say the 2 I've put in magenta are my real leisure spare time activities. Unfortunately, its not much different from when I'm home except I may include more home chores/errands to that list.

There have been times I have stopped though...and those have been on my way IN to a city when I know I have free time and no immediate appts. I've stopped at roadside traps or museums along the way. But those times are few and far inbetween. You can't very well be heading out to the sights of a city during quality appt. time. I'm not on the road to vacation. That is reserved for a special time of its own. But a lot of times when I'm driving, I see things that I wish I could stop for. I make a mental note or write it down for that ONE day I decide it's my last time to that town, or I know I have free time and say, it's time to finally visit the Cadillac Ranch (in Amarillo) or other things similar. Besides, I'd rather save those fun sightseeing things for when I have someone "special". Things are always better shared. (Add finding someone special to my freetime list. LOL)

I see your point, sorry about that. I had in mind providers, but also people who travel for work in general.

One lady told me her other job was selling make-up. I am not sure how much of that was or is a cover for RL family/friends or a planned for or hoped for out of this line of work some day.

Travelling is fun. Usually if I go somewhere international then I will make time to see the sights. That's half the fun for me. It's rare that I lose money when I travel but if I do, it's not a big deal.
