Default Govt Funded Abortions

Those of you that incorrectly claim the Federal Government funds abortions, here is the truth:

What is the Hyde Amendment?

Passed by Congress in 1976, the Hyde Amendment excludes abortion from the comprehensive health care services provided to low-income people by the federal government through Medicaid. Congress has made some exceptions to the funding ban, which have varied over the years. At present, the federal Medicaid program mandates abortion funding in cases of rape or incest, as well as when a pregnant woman's life is endangered by a physical disorder, illness, or injury.

I personally think they should and don't understand why the wacko conservatives can't see the big picture (other than the majority of them being blinded by fundamentalism)
As much as the greedy-right hates anything that helps the poor and the sick (things maybe... I dunno... Jesus may well have advocated?), from a purely econimic standpoint it shouldn't be hard to convince that the cost of preventing one unwanted child that someone couldn't take care of today would far offset the cost of free school lunches, medicaid and welfare.

This is what perplexes me about the right wing, they are supposed to be limited government advocates but then they want to tell a woman what to do with her body.
Many of these unwanted children become career inmates and then a burden on the tax payer too.

So only libs can see the big picture? Maybe we just have a different picture of what is best for this country. As far as abortion goes many people don't believe in abortion because they believe it is killing a child. Arguing about it here is pointless since nobody will be swayed to change their opinion.

Budman I have no doubt that you want the best for our country and probably we just have a different opinion on how to get there.

I think most women believe they have the right to say what goes on with their bodies and that transcends what anyone else believes they should do with it.

Let me make another point Budman, abortions are only 10% of what Planned Parenthood does for women, the rest are mammograms and pap smears and all that other woman stuff.
Planned Parenthood because of the Hyde Amendment, cannot use government money to do abortions so they utilize donations from other sources for that.
So when Perry defunds Planned Parenthood he's stripping women of the essential healthcare they need.
