Coy, the gun control advocate, said that Louisiana's background system is flawed and leaves out people with severe mental illnesses, as well as many domestic abusers.
"Unfortunately these parents think that they're doing a good thing and that they're helping and making children safer, but, in fact, they're endangering an entire community," she said.
