Age of consent question

I was recently reading about how much the age of consent varies between states.

Here in Texas, age of consent is 17.

If that is the case, I have a couple questions that came to mind.

1. Why cant a provider be 17 and advertise here?

2. Is it then illegal and/or considered child porn to have a 17 year old's nude pictures?

I am in NO WAY implying that I have pics like this or much less even know a 17 year old. Just questions that popped into my head.

I would think that at least part of the answer to your question(s) is related to why a young person may only enter the military with their parent's permission.

You might also look into what it means to be a "emanipated minor" (a legal reference).

There is no age of consent for illegal activity; I.e.prostitution. If you solicit someone younger than the age of consent, however, you can add soliciting a minor and/or statutory rape if the act was carried out to the list of charges.

The age for pornography is set at 18 by federal statute. So, having pornographic images of a 17 year old does qualify as child porn even if she's your girlfriend.

There are two age of consents

Where money (or other value) is not involved then the age of consent is 17

Where money is involved e.g. stripper, escort etc then the age of consent is 18

It's a grey area. There are states that have tried to address the issue with sexting specifically. However, with the absence of clearly defined laws regarding the issue, the general law is that receipt and/or distribution of porn of someone under 18 is illegal.

I'm not a legal expert in this field, though, so take it with a grain of salt. If I'm mistaken or you have anything to add, please feel free to share.

And yes, it is a fucking stupid law. Legal age for prono is 18. That is nation wide. That includes photos or videos.

Legal age of consent means the legal age someone is allowed to have sex without it being considered statutory rape.

So, if you are 18 and your gf is 17 and you have nudes of her you are technically in possession of "child porn" from a legal standpoint.

This is fucking ridiculous and in recent years people have been trying to get this changed, but hey, that is the stupid world we live in currently.
