You'll get another couple hundred recommendations on this subject, but I'd say if you want Memphis BBQ you need to try either The BBQ Shop on Madison (closed today, I think; open Monday through Saturday from 11 AM to 9 PM;

I'd advise you to catch a Redbirds game at AutoZone Park, but sadly the season has a few months before it starts.
As a tourist, you'll probably want to catch Beale Street, perhaps listening to some tunes there. I don't go to Beale much, so I'm not that familiar with what it offers, other than to say if you do hit Beale Street you have to spend some time browsing A. Schwab's.
