depends on how much ?
is it worth it ?
is it a friend or family ?
I have a someone who owes me like 2K ,,, I'll never see it
after 4 years I know I will never see it
make sure you have all your paper work in order as what they need to pay you
even if they are order to pay ,, It may be years or before you see it
good luck

So what's the point of going or even having a small claims court in and of itself?

Wow. Lame comeback.
Not particularly surprising, however.

That is the question, friend.
The party can be ordered to pay but there is no guarantee if and when you'll see it. Small claims court can be tedious all around. I've submitted 3 claims before in my life and still haven't received PAYMENT from 2 party's in the full amount 12 years after the fact. One paid immediately however. It is extremely IMPORTANT and fairly easy to get a ruling in your favor If you do have all the paperwork and evidence in order though. Makes things much smoother. I hear all the time how small claims courts are backed up too so may take awhile for the entire process to begin. Sorry you're having to go this route and wish You all the best with your issue.
Edit: Also, if full payment is not made immediately, there may be some things you can also do in order to add interest onto what is owed you until payment is made in full. May want to check that out and have it ready for court.

I see KKA is now giving legal advice. What a laugh! Your only showing everyone how ignorant you are. If there was any doubt, your removing that doubt all on your own!
Let me give you some free legal education KKA. There are no Small Claims Courts in Texas!!!! They were abolished in the last legislative session. They were absorbed by the Justice Courts. Lesson over for today. Class dismissed. KKA, you may remove your "Dunce" cap and leave now.

You're such an idiot, no one asked for YOUR advice.....again, least of all myself! So take your unethical practices elsewhere because word on the street is you're the worst there is. To elaborate for the OP, I shared MY personal small claims experiences, for the OP not for YOUR ignorant melding ass. If anyone makes a fool of themselves it is you. No one here likes you, everyone laughs at you, so go home wannabe. You may also wanna stop the stolen valor as well. Very very wrong. Yes, I know about that too. I ain't just any old dumb hooker. Lmao
BtW: Small claims court was ended in 2011, the NAME and a few things have changed, some rather good. But it's basically same thing under different name, in Texas. Gotta love morons though. Lmao

Pardon me KKA but rather than respond to the substance of my point, you launch into another basless personal attack. Your obviously a very jaded and bitter person.
Who is the bigger fool, the fool or the one who argues with the fool? Bye bye KKA!!

You got it, darling.
I wouldn't piss on him if he paid me. I don't take Medicare anyway.
Done.

Just a Q:
If you win a judgement and they don't pay, can you take additional action to garnish wages or turn the ruling over to the IRS to get tax refund money confiscated to settle the debt? I know that may be messy but I know it happens.
