Default Recommendations for Security Cameras

I need at least one, but no more than three, security cameras for my house. Must be able to hook up to my wireless router and have the usual features. The guy at Best Buy was recommending the ARLO brand. It backs up 7 days of recording which is more than enough for me.

Any suggestions, recommendations, etc.

Ask V.

Kidding. The systems they sell at Costco aren't bad if you don't need that long of a backup.

HIK Vision 3.0MP Vandal Proof Dome Cams

With a 4 Channel NVR Although I would go with an 8 Channel as most people decide they want cameras all over the place once they start finding blind spots they want covered.

Not a Big Box Brand, definitely a cut above what you will get from BestBuy or Costco.

ARLO is by far the most versatile option and the mobile app is incredible.

The only drawback is battery life

I use Arlo and have been happy, and agree the app for the phone is great. Get notified of any motion detected, and I also set what mode I want it in for active cameras. I have also used it to watch from the phone to check in and monitor some work being done on the house. I got at least 6 months on each camera myself, but I'm assume it could depend on how much the camera is used.

Anyone know if these will slow down the network and WiFi router?

Nest cams are the best 1080 easy to install, and cost about 170 ea. on Ebay and you can listen and talk thru camera and get pics of whatever activates the motion detection. the problem is it backs up to the cloud and its not free
