Default deposits for advanced booking?

Am I wrong for asking for a 50.00 deposit for a date with more than a week in advanced notice?

It looks like the consensus is that yes, you would be wrong for requesting a deposit for an advanced booking.

EDIT - This does not mean that there are not providers that request a deposit for certain situations, such as overnight appointments or for travel with a client.

Well if you don't know something it's best to ask!

I would say yes also unless you are being asked to travel out of town.

To me it depends on the situation, if a guy is known to have booked and canceled on you before or he is wanting you to travel to a town and get a room.

Or if he is wanting you to travel or do an overnight then that would be fine.

Granted I have not been asked for a deposit before, I have been asked or volunteered a cancellation fee to help cover the ladies cost.

To me a guy is booking a week or more in advance that deposit secures his day, time with you and if he should cancel at the last minute you get to keep the money especially if you get an incall location.

just my 2 cents

Some providers do ask for deposits in advance. As you can see from the responses, choosing to ask for a deposit for advance bookings could cost you some business. However, the practice is not unheard of. This is one of those things where it is really up to you to decide whether it makes sense to ask for a deposit or not. Those who do request a deposit do so for their own reasons, and don't mind the loss of business it may cause.

As with everything else in this hobby, deciding how you conduct your business - ask for a deposit or not, rate structure, heavy or light screening, menu items - are best decided based on your comfort level, and what works for you. If your only concern with this gentleman is that he is booking in advance and the possibility that he might NCNS you, then perhaps a little more thorough screening will set your mind at ease so that you don't need to ask for a deposit to ensure that he doesn't NCNS you.

If going the deposit route is what you want to do, then talk to some ladies who also ask for deposits to get their input on why they choose to, the upside/downside of asking for deposits, and how they collect their deposits in advance.

Very nice of you Sins, to give advice to millie. Millie, you should not only consider SIns' advice, but maybe pm her a thank you and maybe she can help you going forward.

I don't even know what to say, let me go check my power all tickets again. I would say have the reputation to where clients are more than willing to see you and you wouldn't have to ask for a Deposit for Prebookung.

There is a time factor that can come into play. Say a guy wants an appt a week out for 30 min. No big deal if it falls through. Sucks but not a huge loss. In a case where a guy books several hours or an overnight then I can see at least a 25% deposit needed. If that falls through the girl may have blown her whole night and not in a good way...

This thread does remind me, though... I need to mail some deposit refunds back to a few ladies.
