Default Censorship Again

Looks like a mod has become the censor again.

I enjoy a good dumpster fire as much... or more... than anybody, but bitching about censorship on a train-wrecked thread is just silly.

I hoping that the main reason for the thread closing was that it was in a derailed welcome thread and, as stated previously, it had run its course and served its purpose of introduction. I'm curious to know from a mod, had this been in a CoEd Discussion thread, would they have been so quick to close? With that said, it was definitely time to move on...

Love the dumpster fire analogy, zeejoe!

I guess I always thought that closing a thread, regardless if the subject went off track (although the last three or four posts were back on track) was an action of last resort and that threads should die a natural death.

From the mod's first warning:

[QUOTE] Hey everyone, this thread is really designed to be just a "Welcome to the ECCIE community" type of thing ....there's really no need for anything else in here.

So please feel free to start your own thread elsewhere (..maybe Coed perhaps) ...and debate whatever issues you want to there.

Thank you.

If you take his statement at face value, he's inviting 'the ususal suspects' to go start their own "I think this chick has a pimp" thread in the appropriate place in the forum.
He's not censoring content, he's trying to keep it in the right time and place.

Closing a thread or modifying posts; is it all censorship?

Sure it is- you could also call it "moderation" if we're playing semantics here.

Granted the train derailed and ran it course but it is still censorship. The dead mod squad never closed a thread and the earth still spun on its axis. The best modtarding is less modtarding.

If it was censorship, the entire thread would have been edited or moved to a staff area.

The lady now has VP Status, discussions had ran off the track from what any Welcome & Introductions forum is for, to welcome a new member to the community, not to debate the various things that had occurred, and certainly not to have confrontations in.

One of the bad things about being a moderator is trying to decide when a thread has run its course and whether or not to close it. That one had. Most times, some threads just die out on their own and are soon on page 3.

There are other places to cuss and discuss such things as were in the thread in question, if you think it is worth your while.

+1 Zee. Was not censorship IMO, just house cleaning. The thread was not removed from the board and any member is still free to start a new thread on any one of the many tangents in that new provider thread
