Default Sanchez v. CNN (& Stewart)

First of all, I really don't like Rick Sanchez. I think he's an opinionated ass who make a living asking rhetorical questions rather than the thoughtful, probing questions that should be asked. I don't think he's stupid, just lazy. It takes real work to run a news show that challenges the listeners. However, IMHO, Rick Sanchez tosses easy pitches which he then hits out of the park. It's not real news. And it's not really challenging.

However, I listened to the audio clip that got Rick Sanchez fired (on Youtube) by CNN. IMHO, RS got screwed by CNN. RS goes on a radio show and says (in his opinion) that Jon Stewart is a bigot. Apparently, he says that b/c Stewart regularly fries RS on the Daily Show. Stewart regularly makes RS out to be an idiot (not much of a stretch, IMHO).

Now, this is something that (apparently) RS takes personally. I think we all would. When someone takes what we believe to be our most worthwhile essence--our profession--and shitcans it in public, then we take it personally. And for whatever reason, RS believe JS to be a bigot. And he says so. Then he's fired.

Now, first of all, I think CNN took the most severe action first. Rarely is an employer going to terminate an employee without first giving the employee some lesser discipline first. Seems to me CNN could have accomplished what it needed to without terminating RS.

BTW, I regularly watch and enjoy the Daily Show.

Thoughts?

The world is divided into two groups (no, not men and women). But those who watch CNN and those that watch FoxNews.

Now that Walter Cronkite passed, Time decided to ask Americans who their most trusted newsperson was. The results were overwhelmingly in favor of Jon Stewart. It’s a sad statement that the most trusted name in news is actually a comedian. I’m not sure if it speaks badly about Americans in general or about the state of our news media.

Is Time Magazine good enough...wait, don't answer. I know it's not. Only a Wm. F. Buckley publication for you, PJ.

You're quoting Time "fucking" Magazine as a source? That POS has less credibility that WTF.

Default Sanchez did a no no. He used the'J' word in an unflattering way. That is what got him fired, that and he was a shitty reporter but mostly that.

I take that as a compliment from someone who thinks the rising Gini coefficient in this country does not matter!
Kinda like VP Cheney stating "Reagan proved deficits don't matter''.

Now, for the rest of the story as Paul Harvey used to say:
The right only has one channel. They have a consolidated audience. The left gets its news from many sources. Not saying that is good or bad but it is a fact. Fox needs some competition, I would hope one of the other networks would change their format to one like Fox. I would love to see them fight it out to see how far to the right each would become. Be like the Tea Party and the established Republican incumbents. That is what is wrong with Fox IMHO, they have no competition within their ranks. Were there another right leaning network, they would not get by with the likes of a Sean Hannity.

They were looking for an excuse to fire him and he gave it to them. Plain and simple!
