They allowed fieryjade to post comments that alienated a huge portion of the membership and then want to blame everyone but themselves for the demise.
It's just another business that has failed.Shut it down but don't ask me to risk one thin dime on any new ventures you may have coming up.
Someone commented that Aspd did get it's start from donations, etc.
Well ,that was then this is now.
The managment over there have proven they cannot be trusted to handle funds in a proper way.Donations my Ass!
There is no need for a mirror site.
This site has all those bases covered with a much better and easier feel to it.
You sure you're not interested in pledging some cash the new site?????

Looks like they copied similar language from my website under "rates", lol. December Love and I were discussing business pricing models earlier in the day...too funny!
Let's see... in a business pricing model for a provider working on rates... to include being added to an Executive Advisory Panel by paying me $1000.00 or more... Just what would my Provider Executive Advisory Panel do??

I could secretly video tape my sessions and have the Panel do a critique, advise me on how I can improve my performance!

Maybe some of the members of my panel could wait outside the door of my hotel room, and do a customer satisfaction survey as the gentlemen leaves. That would be good statistical data for a performance review and that could be the responsibility of my Advisory Panel.

So much to think about!! Think I will fix a Margarita!!

Smooch!

I have really enjoyed the format here on ECCIE, along with the class of people. I am hoping and praying that the aforementioned feather pruners (once they arrive here) are never allowed to address members the way they did on ASPD. I've always thought of this hobby as fun and light hearted. I'm not sure why anyone would think otherwise, but it certainly appeared to be the case on ASPD a lot of the time.
I feel the same way.....

And to quote LIC's sig, "This is called the HOBBY, hobby's are supposed to be FUN...if you're not having FUN, find a new HOBBY!"

When people are just plain mean.....I want to hide.

I'm here, in this "hobby", because I love pleasing men with the skills I have.

When I have something to say, and it's not often, I don't expect to be told I'm "wrong" because of how "I" feel or think. On the "other" board, I learned early on to just keep my mouth shut. I hated it. I wanted to be able to just express "myself". It doesn't mean I expect others to feel the same way. It's just "me" being "me". That should be "ok". Here, on ECCIE, so far, I feel comfortable being "ME".

The differences in opinion are what makes this so much fun. One should be able to express him/herself without being made to feel that they are "wrong" for feeling, or thinking, the way they do.

Much LOVE,
and GO TEXAS!!!!!

I always say follow the money..... duece and the sister can't come up with money to pay the freight so they ask for donation. WTF. I have my doubts that the board will even get off the ground. They needed to open that board last week. As attorneys always say time is of the essence.

Well, I checked the stats at the bottom of the ECCIE homepage and as of a few moments ago (10:15 pm, Wednesday night) there were about 1500-1600 people logged on. That's pretty comparable to ASPD's activity and many if not most of them are ASPD refugees. The question is how many will join ERAPS without the ASPD database when they can already mingle with familiar folks here and have fun generating a new fresh up-to-date database. I think ERAPS has a bit of an uphill battle ahead of them.

I agree. They alienated a lot of members in their last two weeks as ASPD and the descent for them is apparent when reading 95% of the posts aobut them on here.

So it becomes more a question of whether the family preserved and maximized the value of the site and database. Would a probate court have required the executor to keep the site running, or find a public policy reason ("may facilitate prostitution") to avoid doing so? My guess is that a court might allow them to continue to run the site but not require them to. Particularly if they didn't want to do so for whatever scruples. But it's an interesting question and all I have is an uneducated guess.

What about selling the site and/or database? Were Angel and Deuce willing to pay a significant amount for the database? Probably not. (But was that perhaps part of what the $10K start-up cost was intended for??). Was anyone else? Would there have been bidders for the database or site if Angel had not announced intent to keep a copy? How does the court determine damages in the absence of an outside bid? The software/hardware had minimal value. Would someone have paid significant amount for the right to use the name but without the database and members? Would someone have paid for a list of members and their contact info -- and would we have been outraged if they sold? So it seems as though either the database (if anyone wanted it by itself) or the existing site would be the only things of significant value. Not sure if anyone would have bought the database by itself -- it's worth less than selling the site itself, as if you import it into a new site, there is less assurance that you'll get a lot of those previous ASPD members to join a new site than how many would stay if ASPD simply continues under new ownership. Not sure if a court would have required the sale of the site itself, particularly if LE or municipal goverment testified it was a public nuisance. Maybe. And I'm not sure how "public" a sale in probate is and how much public knowledge of the buyer's name might depress interest.

And speaking of the database, does that make those who copied posts -- particularly reviews -- and reposted them here thieves? Could a court pursue either them or ASPD staff for diluting the value of the database by allowing copies of a portion of it? Would a prospective purchaser of the database have lowered the bid as a result of all of that going on? Should we criticize those who re-posted reviews here as stealing from a minor child?

If legal questions were straight-forward, no one would have to pay big bucks to lawyers. God forbid.
All legitimate questions. However, I know for a fact that there have been inquiries about buying aspd.net over the years as I have made several. The domain name alone should be worth something and the reviews data from the past year should be worth something. Frankly, I doubt they are worth much even as of a month ago because of the amount of money and time (especially time) that it would take to get it up and running correctly.

But as a non-probate lawyer, surely if they had an asset that was throwing off even $5,000 a month -- and figures have been bandied about well in excess of that -- they would have an obligation to keep it running or preserve the two most valuable assets of that business. At the very least, they should seek some guidance from the Court and get a court order telling them what to do one way or the other, if for no other reason than to immunize them from a breach of fiduciary duty suit from the potential heir. If they don't watch out, Amber Jr. will have a hell of a suit.

If I'm not mistaken, the IRS (if I read fireyjade's post right) may have some say in that.

"Does that mean I can post my Newbie Primer on Avoiding Screening -parts 1 and 2 yet?
When I asked a couple of weeks ago you told me they were not quite ready for it yet....."

This statement shows they are working together and will not be Provider friendly, nor do they care about the safety of the Providers as they say they are.
The Old ASPD was Provider and Hobbiest friendly and was concerned about safety as much as possible.

I will go back and forth from ECCIE.net, MidnightLive, and as DeuceBigalow so unkindly puts it on one of his posts homeAlone2.

Hobbie
The thought that I don't care about the safety of providers, or anyone for that matter, is insulting to say the least.
I'll match up my record of being provider friendly with anyone.

Long ago, equal participation by providers on sites like these was virtually taboo until after it was declared official policy on the Dallas boards of ASPD. I was the Moderator that made that decision.

Girl Talk at ASPD was an attempt to create the first provider-only section on a site. It was created by a provider on a provider-owned site. The effort initially failed due to the flaming between mostly Houston providers that were the vast majority of its members. After it became a ghost town, I took it upon myself to promote it and upgrade the initial group of providers to start it again. With new Moderators and a growing number of providers, I stepped away from any participation.

As an Admin, I have assisted with the start of 2 provider owned sites.

I've spent the last few weeks on staff at ASPD listening to the abuse that now seems to be continuing here. I had to do it there, but I'm more interested in getting some rest than dealing with more of it here, but I wanted to address the particularly insulting remark.

quite minor compared to the insults we endured in the final days...imo.

sorry, but its true. the attitude towards providers went down the toilet. we weren't relevant, we weren't necessary, we weren't going to be looked after.

'how to avoid screening?' that's the attitude that was meant to protect providers? not that any lady worth her salt would fall for that crap, but seriously...

and to be completely honest, warts and all, we were managing. obviously you can't please all the people all the time. hell, even i had my moments, but i will tell you this, i may not have gotten my way but i was dealt with fairly and with respect.

thats why i jumped ship and came here as soon as i saw the writing on the wall.

My post to Whispers on the board talked about CENSORSHIP and respect for his willingness to engage in debate in the face of relentless attacks and efforts to silence him.

His response to me related to a PM he sent me about all the people that were attacking him since he started posting again. In my PM response, I talked to him about giving it time for people to get used to the idea of speaking their mind without fear of being banned, as long as it was civil and respectful. That was also a topic on the board at the time.

He responded to my answer with a short line about posting his newbie primer. It was meant as a joke about him being patient. I responded, jokingly, that they weren't ready yet.

If you want to believe that Whispers and I were secretly conspiring, that's up to you, but you would be wrong.
If you want to believe that one comment posted by Whispers is more representative of my attitude than the historical facts representing my attitude, you clearly aren't really interested in the truth.
