Good Lord, WTFer - no one in the whole freaking thread said anything about showing how silly it is to take Obama's quotes out of context. The thread appeared to start out with D using a partial quote from Romney to point out how right wing he is. Kind of like how Andy Breitbart re-edited that video of the Dept of Agriculture employee. Different side - same principle. It was only when he got called on using truncated quotes did he try to morph the thread into a "parody" or an example. Nice try, but it just don't flush.

Admitting what i was doing in the first post would have kind of defeated the purpose. Duh.

Well,Doove, I guess that none of us poor plebians have your blinding intellect and astounding skill at framing arguments, because nobody got what you were "really trying to do". Next time, try to work in a little sarcasm or irony, like Olivia does. Then maybe someone will get your "real message". Again, nice try, but it still doesn't flush.
Also, no, I'm probably not as bright as I think I am. I'm probably brighter. (Note - sarcasm alert.)

It's not a matter of having my intellect, it's a matter of having intellect.
Let me fill you in on a few things to help ya out. I'll go slow - i promise.
My posting history is about 10% making arguments, and 90% mocking other people's arguments.
At the time i started this thread, the biggest argument going on in the Sandbox was an argument about Obama's "you didn't build that" comment being taken out of context - with the biggest argument from COG and Olivia being, for the most part, "his comment is a direct quote so no other context is necessary".
So to point out the fallacy of their argument i started a thread, quoting Romney directly, though out of context (so ridiculously out of context that even you caught it), and including a link to the quote so everyone could see the proper context and that i took it out of context. Because my taking it out of context was the entire point of my posting it. I hid nothing.

With the exception of you and Olivia, the only people who "didn't get it" are people who didn't even realize it was out of context. Meaning they didn't even click the link and get the quote in context.
By the way, why do you think i provided the link to the quote in proper context? If my point was simply to paint Romney as someone who wanted to rid the world of porn, i would have supplied the quote and left it at that. But that wasn't my intent.

Given the quality of your sarcasm, and your fawning over Olivia's sarcasm, it doesn't surprise me that you didn't get real sarcasm.

I've explained my reasoning, my logic, and my rationale for starting the thread. I've backed it up with logical arguments. Your argument in rebuttal boils down to nothing more than "Olivia and i didn't get it". Sorry, but you being a little slow on the uptake is a reflection on nobody but you, and i'm not gonna let you make it a reflection on me.

Actually, it failed because it is well within the realm of possibility that Romney would move to eliminate access to internet porn for anybody. That's how conservatives want to run your life.
LOL! Nobody picked up on it, because it would be a logical position for Romney to take.

No argument here. But anyone who listened to the entire comment would know full well my quote was out of context.
And if they didn't, then they're pretty dumb.

I don't know if reading your posts in their entirety is a sign of intelligence, but this was a good one. But you must admit, you didn't do it on your own. Romney helped! He's the one who built the career who made that statement, out of context as it was, plausible.

You heard it right here from the horse's mouth folks. He spends 90% of his time mocking others' arguments. One could argue, and argue well, that 90% of the time you have no argument.

No, what I said is that he believes his own stupid bullshit. He believes that building roads or all the other ways the gob’ment spends our money for real or imaged necessities, is hep’. It isn’t. It’s called doing their job for which we pay for. Obama wouldn’t know about that since this is the first job he’s not moonlighted on.
Your entire web spinning is supposed to rest on your sixth post that was cryptic at best. Um, OK. Git ‘em davec. No wait, you don’t have to, because by his own admission 90% of the time he has no argument. I think we’ve gone line down.

I understood you were mocking the Obama haters, not that those silly SOB will ever get it or admit it. I have given up caring if they are smart enough to understand hypocrisy. Whether they do or not, they will never admit theirs!

And like i said in another thread, given the stupidity of the arguments from you and yours, i don't need 'em. I'm not here to tell everyone how great Obama is. I'm here to tell everyone how stupid you are.

So now you're hanging your hat on what the definition of "help" is?
By the way, Romney agrees with Obama regarding "hep'"
It's stuff like this that exposes you for the bitter Hillary loving Obama hater that you are. Every single criticism of Obama i've heard out of your mouth, every freakin' one, can be applied to Romney (who you will vote for) or Hillary (who you already voted for). You whine about him being truthy, but Romney is making Sarah Palin look like she was on truth serum. You whine about Obama supposedly insulting the British (according to you), as you mock the British for Romney's insulting them (according to them). You mock Obama over the mandate, but you voted for Hillary who campaigned on the mandate. If that's not bad enough, you say you'll vote for Romney who passed the same freakin' mandate. Even advocated it on the national level until he started running for President. You claim Obama is supposedly "indecisive", but you praise Romney who's taken both sides of every position imaginable. And if a third side of an issue exists, he'll find it and take that too. Oh, and let's not forget about what you say you think of the guy who always "went with his gut".
You criticize Obama for writing books while in office, though you voted for Hillary who.....wrote a book while in office. You criticized Obama for something i admittedly can't remember the details about, but i do remember commenting that it wasn't all that far removed from Hillary's moving to NY so she could run for the Senate.
You're nothing but a phony, Olivia. If Obama was a multi-millionaire wall street fat cat it's obvious you'd insist we need to vote for Romney because Obama's a multi-millionaire wall street fat cat. That's how pathetic your supposed arguments are.
And that's why i'm here to do little more than mock you for them.

There ya go again. Say what you want about Obama, but one thing you can't deny (credibly, at least, because we know you'll try) is that he's a self made man. Mitt Romney? Not so much. It's possible Romney may have been successful without riding on his daddy's coat-tails, but we'll never know, will we? We do know about Obama.

I pointed out facts about my first post in that thread. And my third post in that thread. And my fourth post in that thread. And my sixth post in that thread - all suggesting i knew exactly what i was doing when i purposely took the quote out of context. And from the sixth post on, i readily admitted i took the quote out of context.
Your argument was little more than "i know what you really meant".
Which is what all your "arguments" seem to rely on - nothing more than knowing what everyone else thinks. Obama, the British, me, and on and on.
In other words, you got nuthin'.

Mocking Bird
You know, Doove, that you can continue to parse other people’s posts down to the sentence level and make pseudo-snarky comments about your intellect and it still doesn’t change the fact that your little effort at mocking was completely ineffective. You allegedly started this thread to show up people for taking quotes out of context and using incomplete quotations. Indeed a noble motive. However, you were so subtle (?) or devious (?) in your machinations, that nobody realized that you were trying to mock them. You were so clever that nobody got it. Everybody thought you were merely bashing Romney, which was a more believable and much clearer motive, and had truncated the quote just to make a point. It wasn’t until you told people what you had been trying to do that your alleged motives became kind of apparent. Only then did the thread steer in that direction, kind of. As a result, parts of the thread have an almost Zen-like quality: like the tree in the forest, if you try to mock people and nobody gets it but you, have they really been mocked?

Please do not speak for me. I got it from the get go. There was a thread bashing Obama at the time that was winding down. If you can follow a bouncing ball , you could understand exactly where Doove was going.
I get that you do not get it but do not throw me in the dumbass category on this one. Plenty of thing I am a dumbass on, this is not one of them. I'm just surprised that you self righteous fuckers are not blaming all of Mitt's gaffe's on Penn St!

I’ve said here many times that I pretty much hate all politicians. I’m a die hard Independent awaiting a third party, and that I vote pretty much against not for. I don’t believe in any of them you dogmatic parrot of the far left.

I could give a fuck what that moron Sarah Palin has done or not done. She’s a talking parrot of the far right just as you are for the far left. Does that make you truthy too?

I’ve also said that the indignancy of the British over the Romney comment is Setting Sun sour grapes. I don’t believe there was a slight. If a country can’t get a hold of their labor unions and squelch an Immigration Department strike on the eve of the biggest event in four years world wide, they deserve to be called on it. You wouldn’t know that because being the union-lover that you are.
Obama went out of his way to insult the British because he hates them because his daddy that served in WWII, no wait he didn’t, was jailed by them, and I’m sure he mistakes Churchill’s imperialism as racism. He went out of his way as the POTUS to insult our allies in most things including the wars that we were in.

See above about politicos. I’ve stated over and over and over, I like none of the medical care laws on the books. It should be a single payer. Period.

See above and below about what I think about politicos. See below what I think of Romney. He is the lesser of two evils, and I don’t believe he agrees all that much. He’s using Obama’s bullshit, social democrat statement against him all over the place.

See above about politicos. Also I will add if they’re mouths are moving, they are lieing. I’m not voting for Romney as much as I’m voting against Obama. I don’t believe I’ve done much praising of Romney. I dislike all the choices.

Are you talking about that imbecile W? I hate him. I think he should have done the right thing and killed himself for starting the war in Iraq unprovoked (Iraq provoking us not other nations or peoples. It's not our job to police that.). Thereby killing our soldiers, putting our economy in dire jeopardy and damaging our global influence. I thought I was quite clear on this matter before. If not, please take a moment for my thoughts on W to sink in.

I usually say voted present and wrote his books, and I’ve called Hillary a carpet bagger on many an occasion. Go ahead look it up. She also served her term. Bla, bla, bla 90% of the time, from you own mouth, you have no argument, and this is one of them. Write away Killa, I’m done arguing that you tried to lay a trap when you weren’t. I’m done arguing that Obama has a fucking clue about what it takes, even if he said it in his fake, I-swear-I’m-black, Southern preacher accent, to start or run a business.

Find one place on here that I’ve said any class warfare bullshit like this. It’s not a crime to be rich. It’s a crime if you gain your wealth by way of the Ken Lay and his bunch did. I have a problem with that. But Romeny using the current laws to get rich, no I don’t have a problem with that. You do though. If you don’t like it, work to change the laws, not bitch about some Big Dog here or there that has more money and shake than you do.

Really? I say that a pot head from an obscure state, with questionable parentage, no family money, little or no documentation to support his resume such that it is could never have risen to the cream were it not for his uncanny ability to exploit his good looks, white accent and blackness. He’s only self-made in that he’s a slick mother fucker and the American people will believe anything if they think they will get to keep ridin’ the American wave of commercialism into the sunset. He is smart; I’ll give him that.

I'm not a true believer in these people like you are. The only thing I'm a true believer in is the Republic; something that you and your politocos you hold so dear don't seem to care about at all. They care about votes and people like you care about what's in it for you. Good liberals don't really care about he common man. They just care that the politicos keep buying the poors' votes so they can keep their idols in office and feel like they're doing something for the world. Well y'all are doing the same for the world as the money grubbin' and or morally correct far right. Congratulations.
Peace on this one too.
