I was lucky about Breaking Bad. A buddy of mine watched it weekly but told me to binge watch it when the series was over. I was pretty sleep deprived because of how fast I watched everything. I couldn't stop. I even called in sick to work for the week.

And Tiny, no spoiler alerts about Ozark!!! You have to delete that ASAP for those who haven't seen it yet. The ending was pretty cool though

You get some crackpot who's a great orator and manipulator, and he can get people to believe stupid ideas and do stupid things. Social Darwinism is a good example. Hitler believed that and got a whole country to go along with his experiment to exterminate Jews. Jim Jones would be another example, who wasn't a Social Darwinist.

I edited it so it won't give it away. A hint though, the attorney is one bad ass bitch.

Your examples seem to ignore the mentality of the followers, which had a lot more to do with the results than oration or manipulation. The distinction surfaced when the punishments were assessed after the Nuremberg Trials ... those who actually believed in what they were doing were spared. Those who didn't were hung. It was not about persuasion it was about fear and simply looking the other way out of self-preservation. Some people just don't want to "get involved"!

Have you noticed that all of those females on that show are extreme alphas? My brother in law pointed that out to me after season 2 and I was like, yeah, you're right. Those chicks are pretty ruthless. Looking forward to season 4 (if they have one). I'm guessing Ruth and Wendy are about to go next level alpha. I already feel sorry for Marty. lol

not quite true. the average German didn't know about Hitler's death camps. clearly high ranking officers of the Wehrmacht did know and many supported it. Others did not support it but went along with Hitler because he promised to restore Germany as a military power.

toward the end of the war in Europe as camps were liberated US Military commanders like Patton and Eisenhower documented it to ensure the truth was known even to the average German citizen, they had townspeople walk through the camps to see it for themselves. most suspected anyway what was happening.

Patton and Eisenhower and other US senior military knew that given time, there would be those who would claim all of that never happened. there is record of it due to them that can't be denied. and of course there are deniers now. have been for some years. didn't take long did it?

nothing to say here, except what an odd thread, juxtaposed between TV show banter and WW2 exterminations.

Actually, your statement is incorrect. It was "convenient" for them to deny knowledge after the war. If you actually sat and talked to those who were alive at the time and within the area of the ovens they were aware, but it was unhealthy for them and their family to express an awareness of the activities. I've had the description related to me (more than once) and a fair interpretation is:

"the stench was awful" and they were provided a "weak" explanation.

It was best they didn't pry.

I guess you weren't impressed with the Japanese exterminations in China!

They did a little "medical research" themselves. The generally accepted estimates range somewhere between 100 to 150 million Chinese ... men, women, and family members.

Yet you had something to say in this particular thread so don't be silly and stupid and act otherwise. If people are stuck at home like they should be, the topic will change and go all over the place. That's just normal behavior amongst different people with varying views about different topics on the internet.

This thread took a normal turn like it should have. You can only talk about the virus for so long before other discussions tend to start. If you don't like it, don't fucking click on it and move along. It's that simple.

It's raining ... and has been all day. I got the re-supply done early, BEFORE the really sick people began to infest the stores and the drunks from last night congested the wet streets still dreaming of being Mario Andretti.

Chung is still supporting Biden ... so I feel for his misery.
