Fort Sumter, you remember that, the Union commander was a slave owner. In fact there were several Union officers who owned slaves and several Confederate officers (and most enlisted) did not own slaves.

that was a strange thing to read about; union officers owned slaves; but most confederate officers didn't.

So really wtf is your point?
People take down statues all the time....not many statues of Hitler left in Germany....or Saddam in Iraq.
Taking down statues is part of history too. You seem to forget that.
You want to have an honest discussion? Bring it on.
I think it stupid as fuck to spend money taking them down but I do not give a fuck what a town in Virginia wants to do. I'm not going to get a tiki torch and march through town screaming about Jews not taking my job....
But I sure as fuck do not want our President standing up for the KKK and Nazi lovers. Trump is the one giving these idiots power.

What about the other group that took it upon themselves to pull statues down. Who gave them the power to do that? This not a one sided incident by any means.

"Between 1700 and 1775, a total of 585,800 immigrants arrived in the 13 colonies from all over the world. About 52,200 of these immigrants were convicts and prisoners (9%). Slaves by far constituted the largest group (278,400; 47%), followed by people arriving with their freedom (151,600; 26%) and indentured servants (96,600; 18%). Note that almost three-quarters of all the people arriving in the American colonies during this time period did so without their freedom" (p. 7, Bound With An Iron Chain).

And I recommend The Galleys of Lepanto. It has nothing to do with American history, but it does describe the nature of slavery (galley slaves) in the Mediterranean Basin in the 16th Century before African slavery was introduced into the British colonies in North America. Likewise, I recommend The Westo Indians: Slave Traders of the Early Colonial South because it relates some details about the slave trade in North America before the Europeans arrived. Yes, Native Americans were capturing and enslaving (and scalping and cannabilizing) each other before the white man got here.

Of course more white people are descendants of slaves than black people
But that's really not the issue
The attack on names and statues and historical. markings and paintings depicting events in american history, not limited to slavery, whether real or merely of a type is done as a wedge to get to the real goal
The end game is to continue to undermine the founders, the constitution, Capitalism, and this nation
Why do these leftists going around the country from one flash point to another raising havoc and hurting people know or care about a marse robert statue? They don't, it doesn't affect them. They hate america and using slavery of 170 years ago works for them

They should be prosecuted.
But our ignorant ass President equated this misguided group with a group of folks that chanted "No Jew will take my job" and KKK sympathizer
.

Wtf were the Klan and neo-nazis doing in that City?
Are you trying to equate the two groups?
If so you are sounding as ignorant as Trump.

I wonder if the hobbyists in Pittsburgh know their forum is moderated by an alt-right sympathizer.

Which KKK lover moderates a Pissburg forum?
I have never went back there since 2dogs had to carry their water for those homo's.
I was kicking amishgangster, bambino and lustylads ass and if memory serves me correctly, 2dogs came to their rescue!
