As a general rule I don't tip sole proprietors who are in full control of their rate structure and who do not rely upon gratuity for the bulk of their earnings.
Superlative service ensures repeat business and, more importantly, referrals which any good business person knows are worth their weight in gold.

My business is not easy either and I had to go to college and work my ass off and nobody has given me shit. And after 30 years of experience I still only make about a third of what these girls make. If you want to waste your money that is your business but there is no way to rationalize tipping a hooker.
I have tipped occasionally, probably more so in the past than in the present. My current trend is pay providers what they ask, don't haggle at all, and don't accept discounts.
9 times out of 10 (or more) I pay at the end of the session by forgetting (slipping) some cash either beside or in the provider's purse as we are in the getting dressed / clean up mode. It is for the full amount, even if a special rate was offered.
