It would seem that’s on a case by case basis. While this is certainly not the case here, barking and demanding a threAd be closed keeps them open for ever in lot of cases! MODS are not required to close threADS unless they feel there is merit in it.

They might not be required, but it has long been the standard here. They respected the requests in the past. This thread was off topic and drama filled so there was some extra incentive.

Good point, but sometimes they turn around. Many a MOD might post a warning requesting board members stay on topic without closing the thread and then it dies a natural death as it leaves the front page. Seems like when threads get closed the next thing you know the same one gets opened with a different spin on it!

I agree with everything you said. Im for MODs trying to get a thread back on topic vs. closing it for the most part. The main exception for me though is if the OP requests it to be closed because there is normally a reason for it.
