“The 1918 flu strain killed 2% of those who caught it. 2% death rate for an illness = pandemic.”

Yes. 2%. But the numbers are staggering. Estimates of dead run from 21 million to 50 million. Nobody knows. Check John Barry’s The Great Influenza.

This virus lives on soft materials like sheets and towels, walls, carpets not to mention human skin for hours. Much the same for metals like door handles and toilet handles. I'm staying home for awhile in general to see how many the 14 cases in H-town area multiply into.

Also, I would advise stocking up on essentials - I checked today and there is absolutely NO astro-glide left at CVS!

And if you zoom in on elderly only, the death rate is actually more like 15%, which is basically Russian roulette type numbers.

Most deaths in China happened because hospitals were not ready to take so many patients at once. If you look at statistical data, the death rate in China outside Wuhan is less than 1%. Mostly older (70+) people. The bigger problem is overall panic, which creates unnecessary mess.

Same goes for hospitals in the US.

Dumb motherfuckers act like this wasn't just declared a national emergency. Or that a govt would declare one based on paranoia alone....SMH

Mortality rate spikes significantly starting at age 50. Only gets worse from there as you go up.

Below 50 are not nearly as likely to die, but high chance of being carriers in the community, adding to the mortality of people 50+.

Mostly 70+ old people die from this virus, and AMP providers know their age better than most of us.

U.S. FLU SEASON 2019-2020

U.S. FLU SEASON 2010-2011
Flu Deaths in U.S. = 36,000+
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/2010-2011.html
The flu only kills .1% of patients. https://www.sciencealert.com/the-new...hing-in-common

COVID-19 kills around 2.3% to 3% of patients based on current statistics.

Here's a breakdown by age. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article...harts-us-china

Also, just because you don't die, it doesn't mean that you can't have a very serious case requiring hospitalization. 41% of serious cases occurred in people under 50 years old.

"But another Chinese study showed that 41 percent of serious cases occurred among under 50s, compared with 27 percent among over 65s.

It's true that if you're older you're at greater risk, but serious cases can also happen in relatively young people with no prior conditions," said French deputy health minister Jerome Salomon." https://www.sciencealert.com/the-new...hing-in-common

Caution (not panic) is very warranted for people of all ages and health statuses.

No. The average age ends up being 70's but most deaths are actually between 50 and 80-90's. Just averages out to 70 something, but the bulk of deaths includes 50's.

The main reason this shit turned into a pandemic is because folks kept insisting it wasn't serious....

After you do a little more research into the topic, you will discover that neither "the flu" nor "Corona" KILLS ANYONE! Secondly, you will discover that 1% of 40 million is a lot more deaths tan 2% of 5,000.

We are 3 months into the Corona bullshit and 50 have died. Five months into the 2019-2020 flu season ...

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden...-estimates.htm

Quote:
22,000 – 55,000
Died of various conditions while having the flu ....

15-20 a month vs. ..... 4,000 to 10,000 a month.

Secondly, almost all of the "Corona" deaths have been associated with travel abroad and on cruise ships, which have been notorious for the spread of various contagious illnesses among the passengers and crew members over the past 10-15 years.

It's another "political football" generating mass hysteria ... like the "run on toilet" paper and bottled water*!!!!!!

Recently, I have observed people with masks on standing in piss puddles at a urinal (in a "HIGH RISE" OFFICE BUILDING) taking a piss and then carefully washing their hands several times before walking back to their office with someone's body fluids soaked into their shoe bottoms. (They take it home at the end of the day to deposit on their floors!)

That's what the fuck is wrong with this country and this hysteria! NO common sense or critical thinking!

As the saying goes: Counting toothpicks while the logs roll by.

*I will now add POTATO and CORN CHIPS to the list of NECESSARIES TO FIGHT CORONA!!!!
