It does go both ways, I have no doubt there are men out there that are scamming women. They make it difficult for me to find SBs. I've spoken with many who were taken advantage of, and were wary of making the same mistake. I end up having to waste time either figuring out that they are so turned off from being ripped off that they won't really get to a point where a mutually beneficial relationship will happen or having to convince them that I'm different and they can trust me (yeah, that goes over well).

As I mentioned in the post I linked above, I generally don't like being the sole income source for them. That puts them in a very bad position if we come to a point where the arrangement needs to end, and I feel bad about leaving them in dire need again. If I meet someone who is in need, I usually give them the option of taking care of their need at the time or making it an ongoing arrangement. I do make sure that I'm covered - meaning that I either give them what they need in installments or at the end, not advance them the money.

The flip side of the game is that I get inundated with "can you help me out, daddy? my electricity is about to be cut off today. I promise I will come see you (from Oregon/Tennessee/UK/etc) soon and make it worth your while!" messages, time wasters, fake pictures, to outright begging for money - "can you help me get my nails done? I can send you some pictures then" I've met quite a few, and there are a good number who expect me to advance them an agreed upon "allowance". As they are unwilling or unable to give assurance that they will live up to their end of the bargain, I end the meetings there.

If everyone dealt honestly and did what they say, it would make things a lot easier. As is the case in other hobby markets, we just have to cover ourselves so that we don't get taken advantage of.
