But right now there aren't any incentives to do so because of political corruption, money exchanging hands, good old fashion propaganda and growing pains of a new technology. BTW, food stamps are really used to buy food, most of which goes to the stomachs of little children that are oblivious to the politics of their plight that wasn't caused by them. I don't think alcohol, tattoos, cigarettes and gold plate dental work are on the menu for women who try to take care of their offspring the best that they can. However, I do see a lot of rich types that feed off of Government Corporate Welfare buying a lot of champagne, artwork, Cuban cigars, and dental porcelains. Then you want to toss in the million dollar mansions, plastic surgery, and the state of the art electronic toys and movie projection screens that can cost more than a small fortune. Yeah, you get the picture.

If fossil-fuel lobbyists are manipulating the whole show, then why does all the government money (grants, loans and subsidies) go to renewables, i.e. their competition? It looks like the powers-that-be (not "powers to be") must suck at manipulating things.

Even after decades of massive government assistance, renewables are still just a drop in the bucket of US energy needs. You've provided no explanation for this failure - other than to blame it vaguely on political corruption and manipulation and "money changing hands", when all of the public money is going to the greenies.
