As I have gotten older I have become a huge advocate of privacy rights much of this comes from my own naïve involvement when I was younger as part of software development projects for several government agencies back in the 80’s and 90’s. If you’ve seen the movie Enemy of the State (late 90’s with Will Smith and Gene Hackman) that will give you a very small taste (think teaspoon while looking at a gallon of ice cream) of our governments’ ability to very quickly process, analyze and locate an individual. Right now the only way you cannot be analyzed and found is if you went completely off the grid. No phone, computer, TV, credit cards, loans, electricity (unless self contained), etc. Privacy rights have been under assault going back to the 40’s with this trend picking up speed in the 80’s. Schools no longer teach you about your 4th amendment right so therefore you don’t know how powerful this right is. Walk up to a stranger and ask them what is the 4th amendment? You will be amazed at the answers. We permit congress to pass the Patriot Act, in the 80’s several Supreme Court cases have permitted the police to submit evidence in cases even if they searched the wrong house by “unintentional accident”. Since then the court has expanded the police as it pertains to search and seizure. Bottom line privacy is now an illusion. Americans started to really lose their privacy in the 80’s and has accelerated with the shift from land line phones to cell phones and use of WIFI and RFID.

The current trend I see for the hobby is the ability to provide more and better information to make an informed decision, less brick and mortar locations (fewer AMP, studios) and more real time personal customization with instant appointment making (talking seconds not hours or days to get response). I only see the trend continuing. In the 80’s you had the yellow pages, 90’s you had essentially brochreware sites, now you have sites that provide more detail and activities provided while at the same time generally providing a more secure way for ladies to filter clients they are willing to see. Moving forward will see the increase use of video to advertise and thinking 15-30 years out the use of virtual reality for advertising and even providing services.

Unfortunately with government it always comes down to money and legalizing prostitution would generate tremendous tax revenue, so I do see prostitution eventually being legalized to some degree look at UK, Australia, and many other countries. Doing this generates revenue and permits LE to focus on more serious crimes such as trafficking, child porn, forced prostitution, etc.. Yes the church’s would fight it but they don’t have the clout they once had especially with the millennial generation and future generations of young people moving away from the church that clout will only decrease.

Damn! These are some really great posts! Very thought provoking and interesting to imagine where this industry is heading and which subcultures will dive and thrive as technology progresses and our culture evolves.

Thank you SO much to everyone who has commented so far. Just when it seemed like it had all been discussed, in comes 5150 with the mother load! Wow!

I knew exactly what you meant.

But my thoughts were leaning towards something like a Jr. High/High School thing like Junior Achievement aimed at girls and boys, about financial independence, societal roles and norms, parental/non-parental relationships, understanding/interpreting their emotions, setting goals, being trustworthy, and finding trustworthy individuals and organizations to achieve those goals. I guess it would be a character class.

I think the main reason in the United States that underage girls fall prey to pimps and human trafficking is just being naive in one or all of those areas. I think making sure that children are emotionally secure, or having an actual outlet to discuss these issues makes them at least aware of themselves and the people around them. That way if they choose this path, it's at least one they've given some thought, even not directly.

Kids who know better do better as adults, and make more informed decisions. Then at that point, if a young lady is looking to make the leap into this, for whatever reason, she will do her research. Any privatized organizations that are not sponsored by Sex Worker Rights Organizations will probably look shady.

Canada is a good example of a society wiling to advance ...

Prostitution in Canada is legal as there are no laws prohibiting the exchange of sex for money. On the 20th December 2013, the Supreme Court of Canada found the laws prohibiting brothels, public communication for the purpose of prostitution, and living on the profits of prostitution to be unconstitutional. The ruling gives the Canadian parliament 12 months to rewrite the prostitution laws; in the meantime, anti-prostitution laws will continue to be enforced.

Its not just decriminalizing by legalizing but ruling and education must be part as well of a complete approach to the issue ... solving just part of the problem wont do the job ... would be like taking an aspirin ...

Its been several years now that Canada, Mexico and the US have been talking about legalizing Marijuana as part of an international effort to stop the violence and crimes related to the operations of cartels that traffic in a large scale in an international market ... Mexico is on the verge to legalize marijuana now ...

http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/4811954/?utm_hp_ref=mexico-marijuana-legalization

Crimes related with this operations have been a huge concern and have been escalating to a point where something has to be done ...
Some of the related issues with this organizations are, violence, kidnapping, human trafficking and prostitution among others ...
IMO the US is still in time to be bold and legislate before it gets out of hands like it has happened with Mexico ...

The two subjects that have to be legislated and legalized:
Prostitution
Marijuana

Legalizing wont magically stop the issue nor will prevent some people from breaking the new laws but will enable whoever wants to play by the rules to do it safely ...

Moral arguments should be set aside to let people choose their own moral standards ... I do it or don't not because Im forced by law but bc is my rational and educated moral choice ...

OK, I'm not trying to start a war or be an asshole so...in 5150's post he advocates for privacy then proposes that very privacy be abdicated in favor of regulation and offers some rather dubious but well intentioned "benefits" of regulation and legalization. Here is an academic and economic report based on 116 countries. I won't summarize save to say that this thread is full of a lot of false positives for legalization, when even the Netherlands where legalized prostitution is a tourist attraction has just as much if not more criminal enterpise, human traffic and other abuse surrounding the sexual commerce industry.

It's not perfect research, but just because we want something and agree with it doesn't mean the outcome is all roses and dollar signs. My real question is when are women here or anywhere else going to stop allowing ANY kind of regulation of their vaginas and reproductive system?

Japan is fucked up. They'll probably come out with an optional tentacle to shove up your ass.

The other side of that argument being that legalization promotes more transparency so trafficking is simply more accurately recorded in legalized countries, whereas in countries like the US where it is illegal the extent of the trafficking trade is not accurately reported.

Just stating the opposite side, phildo. Happy Friday.

Honestly, I agree with phildo, THN.

When I was in London, my lady friends gave me specific instructions on how to avoid calls from human traffickers. Scared me shitless. London is a hotbed for human trafficking. The more conscientious gents there avoid Russian girls just like some guys here avoid AMP's if they feel a lady is trafficked.

But for the most part, a lot of guys admit they don't care, as long as they don't have to deal with handlers. Being honest, I feel that as long as there is a demand in the sex trade, the traffickers and pimps will have a part of the supply. I think this is the basis for things like Stop the John project.

As for pimps in the US, the closest I've come is a random phone call solicitation, and a badly worded email where they both got cussed out and disgraced so bad they left me alone. It's safe to say that I'm not impressionable. But none of the legal solutions presented, or lengthy articles by feminists produce a solution to the problem of impressionable young girls.

Ya they do have a higher rate of kidnapping and trafficking there but could it be geographic proximity to the countries where guys are "buying" western looking women? I will have to read the article phil do referenced later when I get time, but if the trafficking numbers are higher in Europe than in Canada and Australia then georgraphy might be a factor.

Not disagreeing with phil do bc I see the point. Just discussing.
