Sorry, but you are dead wrong...at least in my case...to say I'm paying solely to gain access to the reviews, or that it is the most valuable part of the board for me personally..
Quite frankly, I spend very little time in the reviews section. I enjoy being able to post "private comments" as well as reading them. I, of course enjoy the M/L. And gain both knowledge and entertainment value out of the Co-ed lounge.
You may see the review section of this board as the most marketable section...as I am sure many do.
But as many things in life are...there are no absolutes. I completely understand how critical it is for many guys the review section is.
But to say it is the most marketable section of the board for everyone...well that's just not the case, as I simply don't go there very often.
Getting back to the theme of this thread, as oppose to what I personally, am or am not paying ...can individuals share just as much info to board members, without being a reviewer. Of course
|
You pay for the men's lounge and the coed section? That's entertainment you are willing to pay for vk? Coed is free, right. So you are paying for men's lounge and the ability to read private comments? You do seem to spend time in the reviews section, but i think what you are saying is the review section is not what you are paying for. You are paying for the men's lounge and ability to make private comments. Really?? How much?

Hey, Johnny, lol
Always enjoy the back and forth
I am paying to be part of this board, that simple. No, I did not go through and determine what was free and what was not free when I joined Eccie
It's been a few years since I join this board. Seems like it was $275 for lifetime membership?? But I don't honestly remember the fee. Seems like it was definitely under $300.
Paying the fee was just not that big a deal...I mean, as a former CPA, I did not feel any need to unlock my accounting skills to do a cost analysis.
I was a member of the previous board that went under. A respected hobby friend of mine suggested that this was to the place to land, after the previous board went dark.
And if you really want to get down into the details. I felt joining this board would not only allow me to fully utilize it's option. But for me personally, to stay in touch with fellow hobbists, and the ever changing subculture of knowing where the back channels exist
And like I said before...do I occasionally hop into the reviews section....yepper. Do I spend any significant time in the review section...nope
So, really a no-brainer decision on my part. Certainly not like I was taking out a mortgage loan, lol
EDIT: Hey DD, never look a gift elephant in the mouth...especially the ones that eat their poo!!!

Money is no object to you, is what you are saying?
And look at the crap dd is posting these days... Shit about elephant poo, and his own poo?? You are fucking paying for that???
dd, stay on the fuckin thread topic. If you want to start a thread on all your poo knowledge, go right ahead, but quit hijacking Mwoodys scintillating thread with your bullshit, er, i mean elephant shit.

Is money no object to me...now come on Johnny, of course not.
But is $300 bucks, knowing that by joining Eccie., and staying in touch with the KC hobby scene...alone worth it? For me, yea not a big investment on my part
Am I paying for DD's elephant poo comments...well I will admit, back when I join Eccie, I really did not give much thought to elephant poo.
Not sure where DD is going with that...but I have definitely valued a lot of DD's posting both in the past and hopefully in the future. Regardless of what his thoughts are on Elephant poo
BTW>>>>How about them Royals!!!! Throwing out the fat man at home plate, with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, to win a 1-0 victory.
Sorry MW for that momentary highjack on reviews and still waiting with anxious breath to see "what that guy's" deep insightful...but oh how shallow...views on this subject.
I would imagine he'll have some stunning announcement like we were here on a Saturday night...but he was where ever on a Saturday....fairly predictable, as always, lol
And the really funny part is, that he'll think I give a rat's ass, as to what his opinion is, on this subject or any other subject...with the possible exception of his thoughts on DD's posting regarding elephant poo. But let's keep that a secret from him. I can hear him now..."yea, yea, you Vkmaster, you. But you continue to have me on your mind". And also follow up with some great military advice on how to navigate the Eccie battle fields.
Or then again...he'll probably just hide his head in whatever alligator's do, when called out.
Ahhh, yes, enjoy my first cup of tea for the evening!!! Mighty, mighty fresh brew of tea tonight! Good old Hen House grocery store just never lets me down..thk Bobbie!
Still humming....Nelson's "You are always on my Mind"

Johnny....now that you have admonished DD.....what is the topic of this thread? Maybe I read MW's first post wrong but I didn't think it was about how much VK pays for BCD access.....hmmm. Guess I had better re-read that post. Now that you brought it up, how much you have paid for BCD???? VK....since you are good with numbers hopefully you can help me out with the math....Johnny has 47 reviews so let's be conservative and say his average cost is $150 per review.....hmmmm..... I'm no accountant or math wizard but I think it adds up to a lot more than the $300 or so you paid for lifetime access. Oh, and we don't want to forget that Johnny has to keep doing a certain number of reviews to keep his access. Maybe you could project the number of reviews he is likely to do over his lifetime and do a NPV (Net Present Value) assessment.
Johnny....I really do like you so yes, I am pulling your chain a bit! I do however, think people sometimes take things far to seriously and get wrapped up in things that in the big scheme of things really don't matter!!
Now then....what was this thread about??? Poo, elephants....dang, now I don't remember!! Getting old is hell!!
Ok...back to my own world.........

Bubba, you crack me up sometimes...glad to see you still enjoy popping in and sharing.
But keep in mind...I said I was once a CPA...or in other words, "in a galaxy far, far away and in a time" dam, forgot the rest of that
Now, I merely spend my days going thru newspaper ads, hunting for tea sale coupons. Occasionally hanging with my fellow hobbist friends.
And oh yea...doing that whole spending some fun times with the ladies things.
Now come to think of it....Bubba, you have inspired me (translate...you get the points for highjacking this thing...not me, lol)
Reviews, I have no stinking reviews (ad lib from that movie The Treasure of Sirrea Madre...I think, but what the hell).
Anyway, reviews, I do need or have any stinking reviews...I got no stinking time. But I do luv me, long, long time those tea coupons
So there, that are my thoughts on reviews and relevancy!!!
CHEERS!!!!!

Bubba, I'm not taking the back and forth with vk nor dd seriously, i promise. I have lots of respect for both of them, they know that.
As far as me paying whatever for bcd... I didn't pay that so i could write reviews and get pa. My guess is that from what vk says he does, he's paid as much as i have. But, i didn't pay the 300 for lifetime access to the men's lounge!! Did you bubba??

So my only question vk is what was the future value of your eccie membership when you paid the $300 for lifetime access?

My reference to poo was to illustrate my belief that ones review count is as relevant as elephant poo to the life and information flow on this board. For those who want to understand the history of the hobby in this city, the lessons learned us old gezzers are here for that. For those who want to use the board as a sort of cyber pimp to find their next 3 minutes of fun the board provides that also. With out either group the board is less than what it could be. Did you know that elephant poo has undigested food in it and in a near death survival situation can be used as a life sustaining food source.
