The simple answer is a segment of society has rewarded noncompliance and another segment of society has shamed compliance.

Where are all the leaders of the black community telling all the black criminals to comply? They're too busy rioting, cashing checks and buying houses in white communities. Why would they stop that gravy train?

The numbers are too low to justify "systemic racism." It's domestic terrorism for profit.

So you're cleaning your gun and it accidentally discharges and kills your wife. You think you wouldn't be charged with something?

Depends if I'm in a shitlib county or not.

But I'm also not the kind of idiot who doesn't clear a weapon before I clean it. Treat every gun as if it's loaded, baby.

Well, at least his family will be well taken care of after the city settles with them.

I'm still not sure how a 26 year experienced cop can claim that was a mistake but some people just panic. Strong hand is the gun and the weak hand is the taser on the belt. I'm not even a cop and even I know that.

I don't think she meant to do that and just wasn't thinking straight. If someone doesn't comply and jumps back in his car, it's not like she knows what he has in there to possibly harm her. I would have used a taser and would probably still be holding the trigger. I would at least know where my damn taser was though and not killed his disobedient ass with my gun. But like I said, some people panic but with her experience, she should have known better. It's not like she was a rookie cop.

The warrant was for a handgun violation. They knew this.

I guess the cops were supposed to let him get his gun so it would be a fair fight.

What a mess. Black cops, female cops, all on the scene. Female cop obviously panicked.

Burn, baby burn indeed.
Know the difference between a taser and a gun

Which brings us to the question concerning our laws. We all remember the tragic case of the NY man who ended up dead because the initial encounter was his selling single smokes on the street corner. Why is this “against the law”. It is obviously “ against the law” for a reason.

I would think that a gun violation would be a serious matter. That is what the warrant in the Wright killing was for. But what lead to that. Why did the cops decide to run his plate to discover it was expired. Was it a case of.....”black man, he’s driving, let’s find a reason to get him”. Was the initial violation that lead to the subsequent events a case of “ Black man driving”?

I wonder how many of Mr Wrights family and friends knew he had a outstanding warrant ? And did any of them a warn him that he should get it taken care of?

These are all questions that should be asked. Do we have too many laws? Are cops not qualified to be armed and enforce these laws? If someone decides they do not want to be arrested, how far should the events escalate. Should the cops say...”we know where he lives”.

Of course, getting back to my original statement. None of this would have happened if My Wright would have simply complied.

And......How did we, as a society, get here?
It wouldn't of happen if the cop knew what the hell she was doing, she totally fucked up.

We don't get know what her 26 year career looked like; desk duty, investigator, has she ever drawn her weapon in a high stress situation? There are still a lot of cops that spend their entire career without drawing their weapon. Sadly, there are fewer and fewer who can say that.

Yeah, my black friends are terrified of cops now. I just say do what they tell you to do and you'll be fine. If you are wrongfully accused of something and you feel like it is a DWB (driving while black), there is no reason to make that cop judge and jury and just take that shit to court. Don't resist arrest.

Hell, I even told them I'd bail them out of jail and pay for an attorney for them if needed but don't be stupid and just comply with everything a cop tells you to do. Cops don't get paid enough to deal with non compliance and a chance of losing their life when they don't even know you and your mindset.

Hell, I would have probably just let that 20 year old knucklehead kid go and called in for backup and followed his ass. I wouldn't even have bothered with what I supposedly thought was a taser. That's a game time decision though. It's easy to play Monday Morning Quarterback after the fact.

From the video I saw, the army officer was noncompliant. The SUV that he was driving did not appear to have plates. Other people said he had paper plates but I don't see them or they weren't very conspicuous which gives the cop the right to pull him over.

I'd like a little more story on the Lt. I suspect he was fucked up and didn't want a field sobriety test.

So he was sprayed in the face with mace. He'll live.
You believe a cop that tells someone they "should be scared" and "you're about to ride the lightning son" should keep their job? That's pretty fucked up.

I agree with you there - that dude was understandably super uncomfortable. As I would be if I found out an hour prior that I was going to be acting chief in that shit show.

Has anybody heard one single Black person of authority tell their community to stop resisting arrest? Because I haven't and it doesn't take a brain at all to figure out, you don't resist, nobody gets shot.

I think we are fast approaching a time when nobody will want to be a cop. It will be interesting to see how many retire and quit in Maryland after their new laws go into effect.

Trying to put handcuffs on a perp resisting arrest can easily be determined by bleeding heart Liberals to be excessive
Philandro Castile was not resisting arrest.

Right, isn't that the point? The cop is being charged because of gross negligence basically. If you cleaned a gun without checking the chamber that would also be negligent.

Looks like you don't have to resist to get shot. You get shot for obeying too:

Maybe you know more about this story than I do but the last thing I heard was that the kid had a gun and after being told to drop it, the cop fired. Whole different situation from resisting arrest.

"IF" the video proves the kid had a gun and raised it, that's an open and shut case of justifiable homicide
