People keep saying that, but the reality is we are well beyond that, You will never accurately "trace" at this point in the game.

That only works in the very first days and we were deceived by the WHO in regards on how transmittable it was in the early days.

1% of the population has been tested. Even my daughter, who is a nurse in a big Austin hospital and has worked on COVID-19 patients can't get a test until she shows symptoms. WTF?

Test, trace contacts, quarantine the positives. Build confidence in the populace that it is relatively safe to work, shop, hobby. Until then, I will lay low.

well each area or state rather it supposed to meet benchmarks before they can even begin the phases and to move on to the next phase

We know resurgence is going to happen it's the same thing with the flu there's periods where you have high and numbers as it goes and comes back

I mean think about it in this way even for diseases that are totally almost eradicated you can have a resurgence of that as well the thing about a resurgence is your supposed to Target the infected quarantine them so they don't spread to people making new cases

but if we quarantine the entire nation because there could be a resurgence of any disease then we would never open back up

so it is extremely important that these hotspot cities are following protocol as they will probably be the ones that will result in the spreading again

so hopefully their governors follow through with what they said I guess only time will tell

So this is all up to Trump?

How will they track positives from state to state?

State governments are responsible for opening their own businesses backup

All Trump did was set guidelines essentially that will help state governments decide when it is time to open back up when they meet certain benchmarks

and to begin opening your economy back up you are supposed to be past the curve and pass each step before you proceed to the next

however because a lot of the Midwest and western states especially are not as densely populated they have already set dates to open back up because they have already met the first benchmark to begin the process

Until coronavirus is completely eradicated there will never ever be no new cases.

The plan is to isolate the individuals with it so society can still function that is what was basically said in the resurgence part of the plan in case that happened

Interesting approach and recognizes there is not a "one size fits all" approach to every region of the country.

I think if they press the issue without actual numbers, they will pay at the ballot box, if people are unnecessarily unemployed and suffer. However, the flip is true as well, if governors open back up and cases start to surge. It really has to be a case-by-case situation for each governor and all the mayors to decide on...and as we've now seen in Michigan, if the people think they are making the wrong decisions, they now have all the time on their hands to go protest.

The early days and WHO are irrelevant to getting things opened up. If you were a governor of a state, what would you do? AMA thinks testing and contact tracing are key elements. https://apple.news/AqJ-fkJRKR0KdsHMy-KRhMQ

I think Gov Abbott (TX) has it about right. But we have far fewer cases than the Northeast, 60% of PA positives, 1/5 of NJs, and 1/12 of NYs.

Unfortunately your fear already has happened. It is unfortunate that both side have politicalized this issue. The virus has caused death, millions of Americans are out of job and yet both sides are using the virus for political gain. It is simply SAD. A pandemic is a time when all should come together despite differences and do all they can to deal with the issue and to help the American citizens. If they spent more time working to improve the situation instead of fighting the other side we all would be better off.

so these States are "opening up" in early May? Texas has been in Phase One for a month.. I don't know how Phase One is different from anything almost all States HAVE been doing.

BTW, every grocery store visit is a social distance failure.. they have the 6 foot markers, that seem to be decorative only.. from grocery visits alone, I think I'm 80% as potentially exposed as I was 6 weeks ago, when NO measures were in place.

I think what he is saying is you put yourself at the risk of exposure by going to a grocery store

Now we all need to go to grocery stores obviously or get groceries in some way

But I think he is implying that is social distancing measures aren't protecting you much then it is up to your own judgment to figure out how to keep yourself safe

I could be wrong but that's what I inferred

anyone catch morning joe the other moring?

where mika set up the segment with her typical despicable scorn showing various people comparing the deaths from the wuhan chinese cornonavirus with other patholgens or disparate causes of death in the united states

the implication of the comparisons being that the shut down of the economy was overkill, so to speak

and then to show how wrong and evil these uncaring conservatives were she showed a graph with various colored lines representing deaths from flus etc, and represented this one line, the red prominent line, as the corona line

that red line went almost straight up and put the lie to what the conservatives were saying, well at least according to her

the graph she presented was truncated and selectively displayed as she never presented any aspect of the red line going downward,. it seemed tha that line was climbing straight up while the others ameliorated greatly

then last night I caught a segment of the daily trump briefing. it head of the cdc was making a presentation. and there was that same graph. only this time the redline wasn't cut off and it showed a spike, the same spike mika showed but then a sharp downward turn

but that wasn't the half of it.

no

the cdc guy said that sharp upward red line, wasn't the corona line, it was the flu line

mika is a piece of shit
