Enlightened?

Reminds me more of "church doctrine" in the middle Ages.
Adhere to doctrine - or be labelled a heretic!
DPST narrative mind -speak!
Those who oppose debate and scientific research on this and other topics -ala the NYT which declared the matter solved and no other point of view is accepted" - like their Trump propaganda decision on" Racism" - are adhering blindly to the new Mind control narrative of the Marxist leftists

You've got to tax something. Taxes on cigarettes, alcohol and carbon make more sense than taxing income. There's no doubt people would be better off if they smoked and drank less. The case for carbon isn't as strong, because quality of life would suffer if you willy nilly substitute renewables for fossil fuels, and whatever the USA does going forward will be a drop in the bucket compared to China, India and the rest of the world. Still, a reasonable tax on carbon, with rebates for exports that use oil and gas products in the manufacturing process, would be a good idea if you could offset income taxes or the deficit dollar for dollar.

Tiny - I differ with the first sentence - "you've got to tax something"
That is the DPST mantra of tax and spend - which libertarians reject.
We do not have to have a government that taxes everything - and thus controls the population - Unless We the people vote that government into existence.

With the Radical DPST marxists - we are well on our way to a 1984 totalitarian government.

Oeb, I get your point, loud and clear. You create a new tax and expect the proceeds to be used to reduce another tax that's worse. But in the long term, that's probably not what happens. You're giving the politicians a new tool to raise more revenue to spend on more stupid stuff.

If we get to the point where they're going to either shut in all the oil and gas wells or start with a carbon tax, the carbon tax is better. Let markets work. And don't think that can't happen. Look at the Green New Deal and the platforms of the various Democratic presidential candidates.

That would be great Yssup, if he'll go for it. Maybe I could bring the food and the ammo, you could bring five or ten wenches, and we could emerge years later and repopulate the earth. I'd bring the wenches but around where I live all we've got is sheep.

How many Marxists are currently running the policy of the USA? How close are we to 1984? The man in charge is Trump. If you have a problem with the government and state of the nation, go to the top man. As soon as you get rid of the military welfare this country might be able to rebound. Your brand of politics has set back our country 25 years. Did you find your MAGA hat that you “lost” LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Tiny - i do not think the bunker will be needed.

In particular - any "wenches" brought by the Axis of Socialism would not be candidates for reproduction, IMHO - certainly not on my Part.

For example -

than taxing income.
Then? Income will still be taxed.
smoked and drank less.
Taxes on smoking and drinking are called "sin" taxes, and are not ment to raise a significant amount of money, but to cut back on the activity; or so it is argued - if you believe that.
if you could offset income taxes
Dream on Stupid.

According to your reviews, no red-blooded American would be candidates.

Of course, I'm not qualified to comment on your reviews.
