Who threw what ROCK, broseph? What the heck are you on about? Someone compared little Bush to a bucket of shit? Naw... nobody did that. Someone criticized Americans for electing Dubya twice? A 14-year-old? DAMN! That's pretty freaking aggressive talk!

Have a cup of TEA and get over it, saj1000. God still blesses America! In spite of everything happened before that hopey changey thing...

BTW -- what are your 14-year-old's political leanings? (Smart kid, Kat. One way or another, he pays attention ... which is more than a lot of grown ups do.)

This thread is entitled "On the lighter side ..." Of course, we could just say "America's Got Talons" and put the entire discussion back on TOPIC!

Thanks for keeping it light!

Chiiiiiiyut!

Tit for tat. Disparage a great American and I will reply in kind. People hated Reagan too in his day, but he is worshipped like a God by misinformed liberals and conservatives alike today.

Default For Pete's sake...

Dude!

Get a life! I don't discuss politics or religion ever & sure didn't expect my post of my kid's smart-ass remark to set off a barrage of bullshit. You need to get laid! You're waaaaay too uptight or have a bug up your ass or maybe BOTH.

Geez... If you wanna talk politics here:

My autistic son who's got a higher IQ than most of the jerk-offs in Washington also has a shirt he picked out that says 'NOBAMA', so don't think he's any more happy about the current situation than anyone else. Maybe you're being adversely affected by the current administration & that's what set you off. Hell, the only person I would have voted for in the past decade would have been Ron Paul. So, take that to the bank!

Back on topic... I can sing most of the kids they put on American Idol out the door but alas... I'm too old to audition. That pisses me off even more than jerks going ape-shit over simple statements innocently posted in good humor.

Blehhh... You're such a BUZZKILL, saj.

Whoever voted the current AH into office should be ashamed of themselves. Then again, they are the ignorant masses.

The deficit for the year in 2007 was 113 billion, it was 223 billion in Februrary of this year. The country is bankrupt and things will only get worse. Would that Bush was still in office, or his Dad, or Ronnie Raygun.

And the idiot in office just started a third war. God forbid we get 4 more years of Obama. We are already the laughing stock of the world.
Idiots? This thread was titled "on the lighter side." Who's the idiot?

Speaking of Buzz Kill, Buzz Killington: "Oh on the contrary, I've quite a mastery of the humorous yarn. Do any of you know the tale of how cornmeal came to be." Cleveland: "No." Quagmire: "No." Peter: "No." Buzz Killington: "Neither did the miller when he let his house that morning."

Adam Lambert had toiled in L.A. for years trying to make it through the "normal" route. It's not easy getting the big break. American Idol gives people an alternate route. No one had heard of Pia Toscano before Idol. Now she is known nationally and will someday be a singing star, thanks to Idol.

Thia and Scotty are in their mid-teens -- how long do you think it would have taken them to have their names known nationally working the "normal" route? Years, in my opinion, once out of HS.

I'm not sure what you mean by making it "big", but how about starring on Broadway -- Fantasia and Constantine (who was on last week's show) have made it big there. I think if you look at the track record for Idol contestants you would be surprised.

There is no such thing as bad press. If I had the talent, etc I would have tried out when it first started. The level of "success" and exposure even for the people who make the top 12 is greater than what the average musician will ever experience. I am willing to bet that there are plenty of people who play live music in Austin who would trade spots in a heartbeat.....

People on Idol will get their 15 mins of fame. But everybody that was mention, I have only heard of is Kelly Clarkson and Kerry Underwood. Oh and Fantansia and Jennifer Hudson but only because of their private life drama. What I mean by big it is at least a Grammy nomination, not win just being nominated. I am kinda old school, if you do have talent, you work hard, and are determined then you will eventually make it big. Being sexy is a big plus as well.

I'm not sure what's worse, calling a 14yo kid an idiot, or publicly professing that you weren't smart enough to realize that our country was in horrible financial shape years before the current President took office.
