I work in retail so I try to treat other people in retail well because they put up with alot of jerks. So I always say hello and treat waiters and cashiers with respect. Anyway I was at Kroger one evening and it was busy and the cashier was working hard. I was buying alot of steaks and fixins for a cookout. So when I am checking out I say hello and how are you today to the cashier. After she rang up my order she started grabbing a bunch of coupons and scanning them and I see the total going down big time. She just kept scanning and scanning. I looked at her with an inquisitive look and she just smiled and said "Don't ask". My receipt was like 10 feet long and I got like $150 worth of food for like 30 bucks. Made me feel pretty special and I have told the story many times. Some times it pays to be nice. Plus my Mom always said that I am good looking. Maybe that was the reason.

I had a pure-bred, pedigree, grand champion Klutz dog. Was at the emergency vet with him at 3:00am. Young girl was there too with her so-ugly-it-must-be-cute Pug and it needed emergency surgery for blockage. The girl was hysterically trying friends and family to raise money for her "baby". She asked if she could take the clinic's phone outside where I could hear her crying on the phone while begging for funds. So I walked up to the Vet Tech. Handed him my CC and told them "You take care of that girl's dog. Put it on my credit card and don't you DARE tell her it was me". The girl returned asking if $200 would be enough to to at least start the procedure. Vet Tech told her all was taken care of and her dog was being prepped for surgery. The look of sheer relief on that girl's face was more then worth it as was the smiles and one bear hug from the staff. Both Klutz dog and Pugly were fine.

"Paying in forward" is great, I try to regularly. It doesn't have to be much, but always makes you feel good.

The concept became popular from a movie by the same name, back in 2000.

A simple act of kindness, can do a lot, it makes my day.

Ive done it a few times. Get bonus checks from time to time and am like why not. I go inside and ask the cashier not to tell them I did it.
