That is different from making a date that includes lunch or dinner as part of the date. Then you do pay for that time. A "compatibility check" M&G often is off the clock, at least with the one's I've set up.

thanks! i've always wondered that. usually, well, in movies or whatever, the whole GFE thing includes everything. the dinner out, the date on the town, back to the hotel, etc.
