So F.Y.I., the Kinsey reports back in the day concluded 50% of women were engaging in premarital sex (circa 1950). If a majority of women were putting out before marriage it's kinda hard to say that is why there were so many paying for it (69%) back then.
I too know statistics often have a large margin for error (Especially when you are asking Americans taboo questions like
do you pay for sex?), as well as hidden agenda's (in this case, the promotion of the sexual revolution of the 60's and 70's). However, I'd like to think Kinsey's studies were more sound, in that, they copiously state the number of subjects and the method of the data collected (
http://www.kinseyinstitute.org/resea...ml#prostitutes). Even so, his published reports of mid 20th century studies were a catalyst for the sexual revolution. Everyone knows you gotta have statistics/studies in your favor if you want to convince ..... any 'ol dummy to believe anything you tell them. What better way to shake prudish post war ideologies and promote free love than to convince people they are already oversexed. Duh! As if the fact that we are animals who instinctually are compelled to get it on with or without a study, or a movement to tell us we can or can't. I know, I know, I'm from this era and probably think differently from the
RED BLOODED HUMANS of the 1940's.
Let me stop.
From my experience, and my experience only, I can agree with one part of this article. Most clients ("Johns") are white, married, educated, and make a good living.
