You may not know this but George Soros owns most of the ammunition
manufacturing companies and many arms manufacturers as well. He's selling
ONLY to the government right now, per WH & DHS orders. My son works for
ATK, who owns just about all the rest of the ammunition companies that
Soros doesn't own. He tells me that ATK has been ordered by the federal
government to curtail sales of ammunition, primers and powder to the
retail market. What you see currently on the shelves is old stock and
what's left in the warehouses since the CT shootings and new stock will
NOT be appearing anytime soon. ATK and Soros' companies have more than
enough government contracts to keep them going for years to come. Like
Soros' companies, ATK is a huge defense contractor and they've been told
to sell ONLY to the DOD, TSA, FBI, DHS and local/federal law enforcement
agencies. This is VERY scary and VERY ominous for what's coming down the
pike in the future.

What would be scary coming down the pipe in the future?

I believe he is referring to gun control. Sensing that it won't pass congress, there have already been attempts to limit the availability of guns in other ways. One way which was in the news was that banks which gave loans to arms makers have been targeted to stop making those loans....to effectively put them out of business through lack of credit, or forcing them to comply with the gun control agenda (cease lobbying etc.).
The gov't has been placing huge orders for bullets which has not helped the current shortages of ammo at most retail stores, driving up the priices at stores that still do have ammo for sale.
However, I think the free market will correct itself as long as no legislation is passed. Even then crap ammo from russia with the steel casings...well unless they start a trade war with Russia, I am sure Russia would love to come in and steal a large market share of the domestic ammo market.
I think if we wait a few months things will hopefully settle down.
However, just looking towards the future, I agree that reloading is probably the way to go. Better ammo too..as long as you are careful. Seems like some of the guys here really know their stuff when it comes to reloading and are more than willing to give guys some direction.

I find this very hard to believe and would very much like to see the source of this story. I get emails from NRA concerning lesgislative alerts along with various other note worthy info. I searched and found the following.
http://www.nraila.org/legislation/fe...erberus&st=&ps=
"Recently, an old rumor regarding Cerberus--the private equity firm that owns Freedom group, a holding company that in turn owns a number of firearms manufacturers, including Remington, Marlin, Bushmaster, and DPMS--was in some way tied to George Soros.
This rumor is completely false and baseless.
NRA has had contact with officials from Cerberus and Freedom Group for some time. The owners and investors involved are strong supporters of the Second Amendment and are avid hunters and shooters.
In reality, at no time has George Soros ever been a part of the ownership group of Freedom Group or Cerberus, and as a privately traded corporation, there is no possibility that he will be in the future.
This unsubstantiated rumor has caused a great deal of unnecessary concern for gun owners. NRA-ILA urges our members to take great care before repeating baseless rumors found on the Internet."
While the price of ammo and weapons is going up, I suspect it's partially due to the uncertainty of legislation on the hill. I suspect reduced production has also helped to drive the price up.

I don't think Soros is involved too much in firearms. In fact, many of the manufacturers are threatening not to sell to law enforcement in states that crack down on guns and Barretta just threatened to move the hell out of Maryland and expand their operation in Virginia.

Here's the story on Baretta threatening to leave Maryland ...
http://www.eccie.net/showthread.php?t=678497
But this is the interesting one - gun manufacturers refusing to sell to law enforcement in gun grabbing states ...
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...olice/1931283/
LMAO!

"We feel as though if the state Legislature deems those weapons to be problematic and they're a risk to public safety, then (law enforcement) shouldn't have them either," said Spithaler, who said his company had no pending sales to New York entities but has sold to the state's police agencies in the past.

Per FactCheck.org... (this required about two minutes to research)
Q: Does George Soros own the company buying many firms that make guns and ammunition?
A: No. Contrary to a fanciful claim made in a viral email, the Freedom Group is not linked to the liberal billionaire. The National Rifle Association says the real owners are “strong supporters” of gun rights.
A detailed explanation follows at - http://factcheck.org/2011/10/george-soros-gun-grab/
Wish that people would check the facts before passing along these ridiculous mass e-mails - I've never seen a single one that was true, not one. It's no coincidence that e-mails like this exist and that the prices quoted were so high - one drives the other. Unscrupulous people do this to take advantage of the uninformed masses who are too damn lazy to know and/or check the facts themselves.

My apology for passing it along. Here I thought only liberals, including the WH made up stories to scare the masses.
